EastEnders in schedule shake-up this week as soap delayed and fans fume ‘it breaks my heart!’
A new week begins in Albert Square but there's a small change ahead.
HALLOWEEN celebrations begin in Walford with Linda Carter set for a huge shock and Jay Brown’s fate hanging in the balance.
But EastEnders fans were set for a fright of their own when BBC One revealed there’d be a change in their soap schedule.
Viewers of the London-based drama have been eagerly waiting for a new drama-packed week to begin as Jay Brown recovers from his almost-fatal car crash and Linda Carter is due for a nasty surprise ahead of Halloween.
Speculation has been rife about what sort of turmoil The Vic landlady would face in upcoming weeks.
Meanwhile, Keanu Taylor and his mother Karen are working out a plan to mess with Sharon Watts.
The long-running program will be airing as usual on Monday and Tuesday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
However, the broadcaster announced there would be a “slight schedule change” on Wednesday (November 1, 2023) as the show will be airing with a fifteen-minute delay, thus at 7.45pm.
This is due to an extended edition of The One Show airing before the soap in celebration of the AI-generated Beatles song, Now And Then.
BBC Radio 6 Music’s Lauren Laverne will helm the program which will feature an exclusive broadcast of the last Beatles song.
EastEnders will get back to its habitual time slot on Thursday and all episodes will be available on BBC iPlayer.
Faced with the news on social media, many EastEnders viewers shared their thoughts – and many of them are disappointed.
“It breaks my heart that it’s on fifteen minutes late on Wednesday”, one of them penned as another commented: “Why?”, with a crying emoji in tow.
Other viewers pointed out this Halloween week will include huge twists and turns as Dean Wicks is expected back in Walford.
“Some serious stuff is about to go down this week. Is this also person also going to be Cindy’s business partner?”, one of them wrote.
“Deans back. Yikes”, a viewer added while another echoed: “Can’t wait.”
Soap boss Chris Clenshaw teased tough times were ahead for Linda Carter ahead of Halloween, but will her rapist Dean really return to terrorise her?
More harrowing yet, his mother Shirley Carter could be the one to bring him back herself, less than a year about her own exit, meaning tension between the tough woman and Linda could emerge.
EastEnders airs from Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
