EastEnders fans have rumbled a double Christmas murder twist – as Linda Carter’s trailer aired last night.

Dean Wicks made a shocking return to the BBC soap yesterday evening, cornering Linda in her kitchen. His return has further fuelled speculation that he could be the dead body this Christmas – but now fans are convinced there are two. Spotting what they say is a clue in the trailer, one viewer is convinced there will be two murders around Christmas and not just the one as viewers are being led to believe in the Christmas flashforward scene that was released back in February.

Giving their verdict on what they think could happen, one fan wrote on Reddit: “So in the latest trailer … we see Linda cleaning blood which was already on the floor. What if, a murder has already happened earlier in the day and she’s cleaning the evidence?

“I also think they have purposely put her cleaning the blood at the beginning of the trailer as a tease- a murder has already happened before the ‘big death’ shown in the flash forward. And it seems like Linda is the only one in the Vic as Suki is waiting outside (as seen in the trailer), so something has definitely occurred even before Christmas Day.”

Could two people die on Christmas Day – and if that’s the case, who will meet their end this festive season?

Matt di Angelo, who plays Dean Wicks, has opened up about his return to the show – and whether he could be the dead body this Christmas amid fan theories that he might be the one who dies in the next few weeks. He explained: “We know that Linda is involved in the Christmas storyline, and we also know that most people in the Square would like to see the back of Dean. But everyone is going to have to wait to find out if Dean’s the body on The Vic floor because I’m not giving away any clues!”

Of his return, he added: “It felt like the right time for me, but also for Dean. When Mick was alive, Dean wouldn’t have dared to come back to the Square because there’s no way Mick would have stood for it.

“Rightly so, because what Dean did to Linda is unforgiveable and even his parents Shirley and Buster turned their backs on him. But now Mick’s dead, I think it’s opened up that door to allow Dean to return as Linda doesn’t have him there to back her up. Without Mick, Dean can twist the narrative, and he has more chance of getting away with it.”
