EastEnders fans were left stunned on Tuesday’s episode as the hit BBC One soap aired a shock arrest for one character in Albert Square.
Jay Brown has been struggling due to grief after the death of his beloved wife Lola Pearce. Soap fans will recall that Lola tragically passed away in June, with the episodes airing in May, after her devastating brain cancer battle. Jay has struggled with the death of his wife and only recently Jay met Nadine, who has a striking resemblance to Lola.
Things have taken a dark turn for Jay after he discovered ketamine at Nadine’s flat, which resulted in him scoring drugs from the newcomer. Elsewhere, Ben Mitchell and Callum Highway have been left concerned over Jay, confronting him about his whereabouts and behaviour.
On Tuesday’s episode, after Callum warned Nadine to leave Jay alone, Callum and Ben were relieved that Jay stayed the night at home with an excited Lexi arranging a pizza and movie night. However, it was clear Jay was still struggling to cope and Callum caught him going to Nadine’s place.

Jay tried to make excuses but accidentally dropped the bag of ketamine, leaving Callum horrified to realise he’s on drugs. Callum threatened to tell Ben but made a U-turn when the latter gushed about the progress they are making. Later, Jay was relieved to return home to peace.
However, despite the nice night planned, Jay quickly made an excuse to head off to see Nadine, where he tried to score drugs from her again. Yet Jay didn’t realise that Callum had secretly called the police, who witnessed the deal and then searched him, finding the drugs with Nadine running off. Jay was then arrested for possession of drugs.
Taking to social media, one person said: “Oh dear Jays been arrested for having dr*gs on him….can see why callum shopped him in, he’s worried about him. #EastEnders”, a different account put: “Ffs Jay getting arrested for drugs #EastEnders” while another viewer added: “Oh, Jay! #EastEnders!”
Later in the week, Ben is worried about Jay and thinks he needs to see a counsellor. Callum agrees to talk to Jay about it, but they end up arguing over Nadine. Jay goes to see Nadine to score again… will Jay be able to get help before it’s too late?
