Jamie Borthwick has shown his support for I'm A Celebrity's Danielle Harold in the jungle - and called her 'babe' as romance rumours refuse to go away

EastEnders’ Jamie Borthwick has shown his support for I’m A Celebrity camp-mate Danielle Harold weeks after romance rumours between the former co-stars were sparked.

The pair, who played the loved-up couple Jay and Lola on the BBC soap, have remained close even after Danielle’s character died from a brain tumour, leaving viewers heartbroken. Speculation swirled that the could be some off-screen chemistry, too – something that neither have officially confirmed or denied.

Jamie posted an Instagram Story of Danielle during her recent challenge, walking through mucky water with her ears covered. He captioned the photo: “I can’t wait to recycle this on your birthday! Absolutely smashing it babe keep going!!!” His cute post, complete with plenty of laughter emojis, got fans of the soap talking again.

This show of support comes after the two were spotted together on a “date night” a few weeks ago. Always one to show off his cheeky humour, the 29-year-old also pulls a series of funny faces for the camera. Danielle captioned the video, “Date night with Jamie_10 …always a treat”, before punctuating her fond words with a red love heart.

Danielle and Jamie’s portrayal of couple Lola and Jay on EastEnders has been a huge success, even bagging the pair a British Soap Awards nomination for Best On-Screen Partnership in 2023. If that wasn’t enough to pique interest in their relationship, the two have even joked that they plan to tie the knot in the future. “We say, if me and Danielle aren’t married by the age of 30, we’re going to get married,” Jamie told the Mirror in May. “We said 40!” Danielle clarified, laughing at the pair’s matrimonial pact.

They’ve been seen together frequently at various award shows since Danielle left the BBC show. When asked about the relationship rumours last month, Danielle didn’t distance herself them. Speaking to Fabulous Magazine, she said: “I’m just going to leave that one out there, because it’s soo funny. It makes me laugh so much, I’d hate to squash it!”

She added: “I always say Jamie is the husband I never wanted or asked for, but nonetheless got.” However she did add there is “no one like that” at the moment because of how jam-packed her schedule has been. Danielle also expressed her gratitude for her busy schedule, adding that having no time is something to feel “really lucky about”. Despite wrapping up her time on EastEnders in her final scenes on May 31 2023, her schedule hasn’t slowed down.
