Strictly star Dianne Buswell sparks concern with cryptic comment about her ‘personal life’ amid family struggle
STRICTLY Come Dancing pro Dianne Buswell has sparked concern with a cryptic comment about her ‘personal life’ in a new interview.
Fans know Dianne’s dad Mark is undergoing treatment for cancer back in Australia, and now the redhead has opened up about the struggles she is going through behind the scenes.
Speaking to heat magazine about her partnership with EastEnders star Bobby Brazier on the hit BBC One series, Dianne said: “I am such a hard-working, crazy dancer that it’s been a really nice balance, where Bobby has brought a lot of calmness into my life.
“There has been quite a lot of going on in my personal life over these past few months, and Bobby has been really realistic and supportive, telling me everything’s going to be OK.”
She then added: “It’s crazy that such a young guy can have such a good mind on him.”
While Dianne – who is in a relationship with influencer Joe Sugg, didn’t specify exactly what has been weighing on her, it’s clear being apart from her dad while he undergoes gruelling treatment has taken its toll on her.
Mark started chemotherapy last month in his native Australia, and Dianne shared a snap of him undergoing his first treatment.
The TV star told her dad, “I’m so proud of you” as he lay in a hospital bed ahead of his first round of chemotherapy treatment.
In the accompanying caption, the 34-year-old shared a touching message that said: “I’m so proud of you, Dad. First round of chemotherapy today!
“I wish I could be there to hold your hand and support you in person, but I do know that I’m making you so proud over here in my concert every week!”
She ended the message by cheering her dad on: “The Australian nurses and doctors are now very aware of Strictly Come Dancing, as my dad won’t stop talking about it. You can do this, daddy. Go Mark.”
Bobby also knows what Dianne is going through, having lost his mother, Jade Goody, to cervical cancer.
The Big Brother legend died aged 27 in March 2009, and he performed his Couple’s Choice dance in tribute to her last month.
Dianne and Bobby also spoke about their “tough” times during the competition back in October, as Dianne prepared to see her dad begin his cancer fight.
Having danced a Tango, the pair remarked on how “tough” the week had been for them both.
Asked how the dance was for him by Claudia Winkleman, Bobby said: “Just emotional. It’s been so so emotional all week.”
Dianne then added tearfully: “He has just been a massive rock this week, so thank you.”
