EastEnders spoilers follow for Thursday’s (December 21) episode which is now available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

Eve Unwin (Heather Peace) staged her long-awaited return to Walford much to the relief of Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal), who was led to believe that the woman she branded the love of her life had been brutally murdered.

The lawyer explained that she was forced into hiding by Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara), who agreed to spare her life if she disappeared off the face of the earth.

Ravi, as viewers know, had been ordered to kill Eve by none other than his father Nish (Navin Chowdhry). The restaurateur, however, wanted to be a better man and therefore he reconsidered, allowing Eve to live.

Suki, meanwhile, was left devastated by her lover’s disappearance and swiftly investigated, believing Nish to have murdered her. A huge showdown ensued earlier this week between the husband and wife, with Suki bravely admitting her true feelings for Eve.

Nish was subsequently arrested, as was Ravi, with the pair having been set up after a shirt containing Eve’s blood was found in the back of the latter’s car.

It turns out that Eve was responsible, with subsequent scenes seeing her reunite with Suki, who was overwhelmed to see her soulmate alive and well.

Thursday’s offering of the serial drama dealt with the aftermath of Eve’s actions, as she filled both Suki and Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) in, revealing that, in order to ensure Nish and Ravi are put behind bars, she must disappear.

Suki, despite her initial reservations, agreed to go with her. Stacey, meanwhile, pleaded with Eve to stay, having only just got her back in her life but Eve was adamant that this was the only way.

Things, however, became complicated when Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), who previously informed Stacey that Eve was dead, arrived at No. 31 and was taken aback to see that Eve is actually alive.

Eve explained her situation, urging Jack to keep quiet about what he’d seen, hoping to secure Nish and Ravi’s fate behind bars. The question is: will he do so? Or is will Nish and Ravi be set free?

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
