EastEnders revealed Theo Hawthorne’s fate on the BBC soap it seemed on Wednesday night, while a twist in the episode saw a possible exit sealed.
Freddie Slater was arrested for attempted murder following a violent attack in the previous episode. Freddie had attacked Theo after he assaulted and tried to rape Stacey Slater. Theo and Freddie began to fight, before Freddie whacked him over the head with an iron before punching him repeatedly.
On Wednesday, fans saw Freddie arrested and led away by police, driven out of Albert Square in a police car. Moments earlier, Theo was taken out of the house on a stretcher, before the unconscious villain was taken to hospital in an ambulance. It’s not known if Theo will definitely survive, but he seems to be alive for the meantime.

The fact the arrest was for attempted murder and that we saw Theo being taken to the hospital confirms he is alive, and has not been killed off just yet. But one character will exit at some point, with Freddie actor Bobby Brazier taking a break from the show while he appears on Strictly Come Dancing.
The exit has already been filmed, while it’s not known when it will air or when Freddie will return. That said, Freddie has not actually left the show onscreen yet, but fans are fearing the worst following his arrest. After giving his statement about the attack, Freddie was placed in handcuffs and led away by officers.
His family were horrified, after Stacey and pal Eve Unwin had tried to stop Freddie being arrested given he was saving Stacey from Theo’s assault. They’d made it seem that Theo had a weapon so they could claim Freddie’s actions were in self-defence, planting a wrench at the scene.

But it seems it wasn’t enough, and Freddie was taken away and arrested for the crime, while he is yet to speak to officers so there’s still hope they will let him go. Freddie had walked in on Theo pinning Stacey down on the kitchen floor, after he told her he was going to rape her – suggesting that if they slept together she would realise “how much he loved her”.
