Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) has finally discovered the truth about sister Annie in EastEnders, but could this spell a return for Max Branning (Jake Wood) in the near future?
Although Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) has brought Annie up as Mick’s daughter, there is no mistaking the fact that she is actually Max Branning’s – though Linda has been determined to keep the truth from Max himself.
Max and Linda had an affair back in 2020, and though they planned to move away together, Linda eventually revealed that she was still in love with Mick. After failing to win her back, Max left Walford alone, completely unaware of Linda’s pregnancy.
However, the return of Lauren to Albert Square brought trouble to Linda’s door, as she realised that her big secret may not stay secret for long.
Soon, Lauren was confronting Linda, having learnt the truth from Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy), and Linda was forced to explain everything.
Fortunately, Lauren could see her point of view and promised she wouldn’t tell Max unless he specifically asked about it.
But, could she be set to change her mind?
Linda is really struggling at the moment, with recent scenes showing her reaching for the bottle once again in order to cope with the events of Christmas Day which saw her stab Keanu Taylor to death.
Could Lauren realise what a state she is in and decide that Annie may be better off with her dad?
Could this spell the return of Max Branning to Albert Square?
Max’s name has been mentioned countless times in the past few episodes, which could be an indication that he is set to return.
While a return for Max would be an absolute joy for fans, it would spell serious trouble for Linda, who is already dealing with so much.
Are we set to see a dramatic showdown as Max and Linda fight for custody of their daughter, or will Linda’s secret stay buried for long enough to keep him away?
