Another EastEnders legend leaving just a day after Sam Mitchell exit
This article contains spoilers from Friday’s (January 19) EastEnders which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.
Following the shocking exit of Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf) last night (January 18), who fled Albert Square after exposing Phil Mitchell’s (Steve McFadden) one night stand with Emma Harding (Patsy Kensit), another Walford legend is set to leave.
Martin Fowler (James Bye) explained to Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) that he would be flying over to Australia ‘for a few weeks at least’.
He revealed that older sister Michelle, who has been living down under since her exit from the Square in 2018, was undergoing a hysterectomy and he planned on going out to visit.
He compared the situation to what happened to their mum, Pauline Fowler, in 1989, when Pauline underwent a hysterectomy after discovering that she had fibroids.
Martin explained that it wasn’t just Michelle who would need his support, but Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), too.
Sharon headed over to see Michelle in Australia earlier this month, when things in Walford became too much for her to handle.
She had been struggling greatly since the murder of Keanu Taylor, which she, along with the rest of The Six, helped to cover up.
When The Six made the decision to head back into the café where Keanu’s body was hidden and bury him properly, Sharon couldn’t cope, admitting to Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) that she still saw his face everywhere.
In a bid to avoid having to see him again, Sharon made a run for it, taking son Albie to the tube station and announcing that they were going away.
Later, The Six were horrified to learn from Zack Hudson (James Farrar) that Sharon had gone to Australia to visit Michelle, and that they would have one less person to help them.
As Martin heads over to Australia, will he work out what’s really going on, and come back to the Square knowing the truth about Keanu’s murder? And could Sharon and Michelle come back with him?
