EastEnders spoilers follow.
EastEnders has hinted at Nish Panesar’s sinister motivation for offering Kat Mitchell rent-free housing.
The soap has already confirmed that Nish will be plotting against the Six for nearly killing him on Christmas Day and then covering it all up.
At the same time, Kat has split from new husband Phil Mitchell after finding out from a departing Sam Mitchell that he’d cheated on her with Emma.
With a potential new romance looming for Kat, Nish flirted up a storm with her during Friday’s (January 19) episode as they discussed her renting one of his properties.
Nish was uncharacteristically friendly in offering Kat a rent-free flat following her split from Phil, which she accepted even after being warned by the Slaters that there must be an ulterior motive.
Later, Kat turned up at No 41 where Nish welcomed her in and even offered her a drink.
“You can tell me what you’re after. I might be desperate, but I’m not stupid,” she warned him.
Nish insisted his “intentions are honourable”, claiming he felt a bond with Kat because they’d both recently discovered their spouses had been unfaithful.
“Finding out your husband, or wife, cheated on you, I never realised how painful that was,” he told Kat. “I’m just trying to help.”
Accepting his offer, Kat then asked when she could view the property in question and insisted it didn’t matter how Phil felt about her moving on.
“I’m looking forward, not back,” Kat said.
The two then toasted to “new beginnings”, though there was clearly an ulterior motive for Nish…
EastEnders airs on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
