EastEnders star Kellie Bright reveals Linda Carter’s relief over being caught for Keanu’s murder
Linda Carter’s (Kellie Bright) entire life was turned upside down on Christmas Day in EastEnders, when she killed Keanu Taylor in dramatic scenes.
Following the murder, which saw Linda stab Keanu in order to protect best friend Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), The Six agreed to help her cover it up, despite Linda wanting to hand herself in.
In the weeks since the murder, Linda has been clearly struggling, having fallen off the wagon once again, and the rest of The Six have had to work hard to stop her from going to the police and dropping them all in it.
The Six have gone to great lengths to cover up Linda’s crime, by burying Keanu’s body in the burnt out café and establishing a false version of events from the night in question.
However, that could all be set to unravel in upcoming scenes when Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) grows suspicious of the women, and determines to find out exactly what really happened on Christmas night.
Viewers will remember that Nish was also attacked that night, when Denise Fox (Diane Parish) hit him over the head with a bottle in order to protect Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal).
In upcoming scenes, Nish will tell Suki that his memory of the night has returned as he gives her an ultimatum: Sign all of the businesses over to him or he will call the police.
While this would put The Six in great danger of being discovered, actress Kellie Bright has revealed that Linda would actually be ‘relieved’ if her murder secret was exposed.
‘I think in some ways, Linda would be relieved if she got found out,’ the Linda Carter actress told TV Times.
‘As much as she is covering this up because she doesn’t want to leave her children, on some level she believes she deserves to be punished, which is why she’s drinking again. I think she thinks there is something inherently dark and wrong with her.
‘The only thing I can get my head into … is thinking of an ink blot in her soul that is gradually seeping and getting bigger and bigger; that blackness where you can’t wash it out. It’s a bit Lady Macbeth.’
If her murder secret were to be discovered, then Linda would likely be facing a lengthy prison sentence, which Kellie admits Linda would struggle with.
‘What would break her would be leaving her children. Because even when she’s drinking, she can justify that and think “Yeah, but I’m still here. I’m still being their mum.”
‘She would lose them to a certain degree, because she would not be there while they grew up. I think that’s the thing that would break her, not actually being in prison.’
It is as yet unknown what the outcome for The Six will be, but it is safe to say that there will be plenty of drama along the way!
