EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa reveals worry over Lauren Branning return

"I'm actually worried to come back and ruin it."

Former EastEnders actress Jacqueline Jossa has revealed that she’s pretty nervous about her return to Albert Square.

Jossa was confirmed last month to be reprising the role of Lauren Branning, and addressed it for the first time to her Instagram followers a few weeks later.

“I haven’t actually come on at all and spoken about the fact I am going back to EastEnders. How wild is that?” she shared during her recent Instagram Q&A session. “I haven’t spoken about it at all.”

She also opened up about how long we can expect to see her back on the BBC One show for.

“It’s as permanent as anyone there is permanent,” she said. “Obviously, you can get written out at any time but yeah. It’s not a flying visit this time, it’s back back. I think it’s been so good recently. I’m actually worried to come back and ruin it.”

Jossa previously made a cameo appearance as Lauren earlier this year as part of Thomas Law’s return as Peter Beale. She also popped up last year for Dot Branning’s funeral.

EastEnders executive producer Chris Clenshaw previously explained why Lauren is making a proper comeback now, stating that he really wanted to lean into the history surrounding some of the soap’s most iconic families.

“I’m delighted to welcome Jacqueline back to the role of Lauren Branning. We only saw Lauren on screen a few of months ago, but her return left plenty of unfinished business between her and the Beales,” Clenshaw told The Sun on Sunday.

“The Branning family have a long history of being at the heart of the drama in Walford, and we’re thrilled to have Jacqueline back in the Square as she continues that family tradition.”

EastEnders airs on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
