After only a few months of waiting, Sistas season 8 is back and there’s been plenty of news about release dates, storylines, and more. From the creator of the Madea movies franchise, Sistas is another of Tyler Perry’s drama series made for BET. Premiering in 2019, Sistas follows a group of four single black women who encounter the many ups and downs of modern personal, professional, and romantic life. It’s a non-Madea Tyler Perry production, but it still has an equal helping of comedy mixed in with the drama.
The series is popular enough that it even led to a spin-off, Zatima, which premiered in 2022. Sistas season 7 premiered on January 3, 2024, and was split into two parts, with part 2 beginning on May 29, 2024. Sistas season 8 was announced before season 7 even finished, though not much news was initially revealed. The Hunt Is On To Find Gary’s Assailant
Season 8 is set to premiere with the reveal that Gary did not die from his stabbing in the previous episode, and the investigation into who attacked him is sure to be a major part of the season. Other loose story threads that will be explored include Andi being promoted to partner at her law firm, Hayden discovering that Gary and Tamara have been sleeping together, Zac wanting payback when he hears Gary’s workers hurt Fatima, Rich insisting that he loves Sabrina and will consider having children with her, and Danni deciding on if she wants a relationship with Tony.

The first trailer for Sistas season 8 dropped along with the release date announcement. In the 30-second trailer, it’s revealed that Gary survived his stabbing. The ad primarily focuses on the investigation to find out who tried to kill Gary, with each of the main characters being deposed. While Sistas season 8 likely won’t focus entirely on Gary, it seems that at least for the beginning of season 8, the criminal case will be the focal point.
