Axed EastEnders star Max Bowden filmed in foul-mouthed rant to fans outside studio as he breaks silence on exit
The actor has responded after video surfaced
AXED EastEnders actor Max Bowden was filmed in a foul-mouthed exchange as he exited the set of the BBC1 soap in the lead up to his exit.
The fan video emerged last week after Max, 29, shot his some his final Ben Mitchell scenes and he is videod saying: “I’m so f*****g excited to get out” as he posed with fans at Elstree Studios, Borehamwood.
The actor will leave screens for good next month.
It comes after The Sun on Sunday revealed that show bosses decided not to renew the TV star’s contract after four years and that they had disciplined the actor for his behaviour on set.
A telly source said: “Max is ready to move on. He is proud of his time on the show and what he has achieved but he is focused on new projects and what he is doing next.”
Max, who joined Albert Square since 2019, first had discussions with BBC bosses about his life offscreen back in 2022.
A TV source said: “Max was called in for a chat by executives. He is an extremely talented actor and was always a real pro on set. However, there were concerns that his partying lifestyle away from the set could start to prove a distraction.”
In May of that year he began dating co-star Shona McGarty, 32, who plays Whitney Dean, at the same time as his former partner Roisin Buckle, 38, was pregnant with their child.
However, his relationship with Shona ended six months later.
And last year, she revealed she was quitting EastEnders after 15 years to pursue other projects. Her final scenes are due to air soon.
Max Bowden said: “Anyone who listens to this audio will clearly hear this is not a foul mouthed rant. I was talking about my excitement for the future and what’s to come.”
In December Max had escaped unhurt from a three-car collision. He was pictured looking shocked as he emerged from his wrecked Mercedes CLA in the middle of the day.
His motor, which did not have an up-to-date MOT, was left with its front bumper hanging off and is believed to be a write-off.
No injuries or arrests were reported after the crash in Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey.
An EastEnders spokeswoman declined to comment.
