BBC EastEnders Christmas death: All the clues you might have missed that point to Queen Vic murderer

EastEnders is lining up an explosive Christmas Day whodunnit where one person, potentially more, will be killed off in dramatic scenes with the BBC One soap dropping plenty of hints

EastEnders viewers are eagerly awaiting Christmas Day as the hit BBC One soap is set to air an explosive whodunnit festive murder.

Earlier this year, in a soap first, the hit BBC One show released a flashforward glimpse at the dramatic scenes with six women – Denise Fox, Kathy Beale, Linda Carter, Sharon Watts, Stacey Slater and Suki Panesar – faced with a mystery dead man at the Queen Vic.

Since then, EastEnders has released explosive trailers for each of the six women, dropping clues left, right and centre while they have also confirmed the potential victims in a line-up of seven. These characters are Phil Mitchell, Keanu Taylor, Ravi Gulati, Dean Wicks, Nish Panesar, Rocky Cotton and Jack Branning. As we near the deadly Christmas episode, we take a look at all of the clues ahead of the big reveal…

Cufflinks

The biggest clue of all is the mystery dead person is wearing amber cufflinks. Knowing fans will be keeping an eagle-eye on all characters’ accessories, EastEnders has kept viewers on their toes by teasing several male characters wearing the item. It is known that the amber cufflinks belong to Nish, which Rocky won during a poker before giving them to Jack with the latter then passing them onto Phil.

In a new promotional image of the seven suspects, all of them are stood in the same suits with the very same cufflinks on with a fiery backdrop. But who will be wearing them on the fateful Christmas Day?

Wedding reception

Viewers already know that Sharon and Keanu, who recently got engaged again, are planning on holding their wedding reception at Queen Vic on Christmas Day. This makes sense as in the flashforward, Sharon is wearing a wedding dress and a buffet can be seen in the background.

Soap fans will recall that Sharon remains oblivious to the fact Keanu has been scamming her and he is behind son Albie’s kidnap. However, Phil, who was recently revealed as Albie’s real biological father, is very aware of Keanu and the latter’s mother Karen Taylor’s evil ways.

If soap watchers look closely in the flash-forward, it appears the food and wedding cake is untouched, which seems odd for a reception in full swing. Is this a hint that the wedding doesn’t exactly go to plan?

Murder weapons

In the Christmas flashfoward, Denise can be seen holding a smashed bottle of Champagne, which hints it could be the murder weapon. However, there’s plenty of other potential weapons as in the individual trailers as Kathy can be seen holding a meat cleaver to chop up some flowers while Suki smashes a family picture frame.

Elsewhere, fans have been predicting that a pineapple ornament, which has been the focus at Stacey’s home, could be the weapon or even a vase at the Panesar’s home, which has been discussed a lot lately on the soap. The vase would also tie into the trailers, which feature a lot of broken glass.

Bloodstains

In the flashforward, Stacey is covered in blood, which appears to hint she is either responsible for the murder or she has tried to save the person who has died. Could it be Jack amid the affair theory? Elsewhere, Sharon’s wedding dress is also covered in blood, could someone have died or been killed in her arms? Therefore, this would most likely be either Keanu or Phil?

Linda’s separate scene and bust lip

In the flashforward, Linda is seen walking into the room while the other five women were already present, hinting she might actually not be involved with the big murder. However, in Linda’s individual trailer, she appears to be upstairs in the Queen Vic scrubbing a floor while she is also sporting a busted lip, could she be responsible for a second murder upstairs? And is it Dean?

Chilling jukebox

In a recent trailer, a jukebox appears in the Queen Vic, which has various letters and numbers pushed in, including the letters that spell the word D E A T H and also the number eight. Whilst the number eight doesn’t seem that significant at first glance, we know the BBC soap are always dropping clues – so could this be a hint to the identity of the murderer or even of the victim?

It looks like the eight is pushed down – but could this confirm a double murder this Christmas? Six plus two equals eight and could the number be confirming how many people will be in the scene? This would tie into the theory that Linda is upstairs dealing with a second murder.

Kathy’s telling look

In the Christmas flashforward, Suki is seen sitting down in shock while a shellshocked Kathy stares at her before looking back at the body. Could this be hinting the dead body is Suki’s husband Nish?

The six’s dress colours

In the Christmas flashforward and promotional material since, each of the six women are wearing their own colour. Denise is in green, Kathy is in lilac, Linda is in pink, Sharon is in a white wedding dress, Stacey is in red and Suki is wearing blue.

Eagle-eyed soap watchers have been looking for colours during each episode as a hint for the festive episodes. For example, when Suki’s lover Eve Unwin managed to escape Ravi, who had been ordered to kill her from Nish, a blue light was seen in the woods.

Elsewhere, viewers are convinced that Stacey is set for an affair with Jack, who is in a relationship with Denise. In recent episodes, Stacey has been wearing a lot of red while in the Christmas Day episode, Denise is wearing green, is this green with envy?

Fans have also been focused on the colourful vase at the Panesar’s home, which appears to have each of the six’s colours in the glass design. Could this in fact be the murder weapon?

Trailers

The BBC One soap has released individual trailers for each of the six, which offers hints and clues for each of the women. In Suki’s trailer, it sees her smashing a family photo frame before running away, could she have hit Nish with the frame before he starts chasing her and they both find themselves in the Queen Vic?

In Stacey’s trailer, she is seen applying lipstick into a mirror before she stands back shocked and the mirror cracks into many pieces. With fans predicting she is set to have an affair with Jack, could the duo be spotted in the mirror by Denise? Or perhaps Stacey witnesses something in the mirror she shouldn’t, leaving the person seeking revenge and she kills them in defence?

In Linda’s trailer, she appears to be upstairs in the Queen Vic scrubbing a floor while she is also sporting a busted lip, could she be responsible for a second murder upstairs? And has she been attacked by evil enemy Dean?

For Denise’s trailer, it is teased “for whom the bell tolls…” as a bell is seen ringing. In the scene, Denise is sipping a green cocktail before she looks shocked and drops it to the floor with the glass breaking. Could she have spotted Jack and Stacey amid the affair theory with green hinting jealousy?

In Kathy's trailer, the character is seen chopping flowers with a meat cleaver

In Kathy’s trailer, the character is seen chopping flowers with a meat cleaver before turning furious, attacking the tulips into several tiny pieces. Could husband Rocky have brought her flowers in an attempt to apologise for his various wrongdoings and Kathy sees red?

For Sharon’s trailer, she is seen standing in the Queen Vic holding a bouquet of white roses. Confetti falls all around Sharon as she stares sombre into the distance before a bell digs in the distance to which she throws her flowers, which appear to go upstairs. Could this be hinting her wedding to Keanu doesn’t go to plan and at best friend Linda upstairs?

Tagline

For all of the Christmas whodunnit promos and teasers, EastEnders has used the tagline: “In a flash, everything changes…” With Sharon getting married, a wedding photographer uses a flash on their camera, could this be a hint that it’s Keanu?

Bell ringing

EastEnders has used a ringing bell throughout all of the Christmas promos and trailers, as well as the funeral saying: “for whom the bell tolls”. Sharon is also getting married, which signifies church bells ringing, could this again hint at Keanu? Or perhaps with Denise having a big focus on the ringing bells, it’s Jack?
