BBC EastEnders’ Denise Fox ‘sealed’ as Christmas killer: Weapon clue, Stacey link and dress hint

EastEnders viewers are eagerly awaiting Christmas Day as the hit BBC One soap is set to air an explosive whodunnit festive murder.

Earlier this year, in a soap first, the hit BBC One show released a flashforward glimpse at the dramatic scenes with six women – Denise Fox, Kathy Beale, Linda Carter, Sharon Watts, Stacey Slater and Suki Panesar – faced with a mystery dead man at the Queen Vic.

Since then, EastEnders has released explosive trailers for each of the six women, dropping clues left, right and centre while they have also confirmed the potential victims in a line-up of seven. These characters are Phil Mitchell, Keanu Taylor, Ravi Gulati, Dean Wicks, Nish Panesar, Rocky Cotton and Jack Branning.

In upcoming scenes this week, Denise tries to work on her fractured relationship with Jack following her affair with Ravi earlier this year. In the episodes, Kim gifts Denise with a child free evening and new underwear in a bid to help reinvigorate Denise and Jack’s relationship. Yet things don’t go to plan when Jack overhears Priya and Denise discussing her affair with Ravi… how will he react?

With Denise, Jack and Ravi all confirmed in the line-up this Christmas, we take a look at all of the clues that could mean Denise is the killer…

Murder weapon?

In the Christmas flashfoward, Denise can be seen holding a smashed bottle of Champagne, which hints it could be the murder weapon. Eagle-eyed soap watchers have also noticed that all the promotional material for the episode includes broken glass and villain Nish left wife Suki’s lover Eve for dead after hitting her with a bottle.

Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said: “I’ll be really surprised if Xmas day murder isn’t Nish, he hit eve with a bottle and Denise is holding a smashed bottle on the trailer, clue maybe? #EastEnders.” Elsewhere, a different account put: “I think denise is the killer, this is a huge clue #EastEnders” to which they posted a snap of Denise with the bottle and the smashed glass in the soap’s trailer.

Stacey and Jack ‘affair’ theory

Soap watchers are convinced that Stacey is set to have an affair with Jack after the two grew close over her stalker Theo Hawthorne. In the trailer, Denise holds a broken bottle and Stacey is covered in blood with fans thinking this could be a hint to the body… is it Jack?

Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said: “Given the flash forward Denise is holding a broken bottle & Stacey has blood on her hands, reckon this is a VERY BIG CLUE either of the murder weapon and/or body #Eastenders.”

Dress hint

In the Christmas flashforward and promotional material since, each of the six women are wearing their own colour. Denise is in green, Kathy is in lilac, Linda is in pink, Sharon is in a white wedding dress, Stacey is in red and Suki is wearing blue.

Eagle-eyed soap watchers have been looking for colours during each episode as a hint for the festive episodes and some fans noticed green being shown. Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said: “Dunno if anyone noticed lately but a lot of the scenes where Denise is talking about Ravi she’s wearing green ?? Maybe a clue for xmas #EastEnders.”
