BBC EastEnders eagle-eyed fans spot vital Christmas clue amid Stacey and Theo twist
EastEnders viewers are convinced that the BBC One soap has dropped a major Christmas 2023 clue.
The hit BBC One soap is gearing up for a Christmas whodunnit, where Denise (Diane Parish), Kathy (Gillian Taylforth), Linda (Kellie Bright), Sharon (Letitia Dean), Stacey (Lacey Turner) and Suki (Balvinder Sopal) are faced with a dead body, whose identity is yet to be revealed.
And soap watchers are convinced they have spotted a new clue during Monday’s episode amid a huge Stacey and Theo Hawthorne twist. Viewers will recall Stacey’s stalker Theo suddenly appeared behind her last week after his plea hearing was adjourned. Theo said: “Hello Stacey” as she warned: “You can’t be here!”, to which the evil stalker then pleaded: “Just give me 30 minutes to talk, it will be worth your while…”

On Monday’s episode, Stacey was left reeling once again at Theo’s attempts to make contact on the day of his plea hearing, asking to meet. Stacey was reluctant but after daughter Lily opened up about her worries for her mum to Ricky, Stacey bravely decided to go.
At the meeting, Stacey tried to manipulate Theo into pleading guilty by promising to restart their “relationship” once he’s served his time, but Stacey started to worry if she had made the situation worse as Theo reacted badly to her suggestion. However, viewers were left distracted during the scenes as they spotted a potential Christmas clue.
During the meet with Theo, eagle-eyed fans spotted that Stacey was wearing red, which is the same colour she wears in the Christmas flashfoward teaser when faced with the mystery dead body. Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said: “Why has Eve left Stacey on her own??? Also notice Stacey wearing red meeting Theo #EastEnders.”
A different account noted: “Anyone else notice the red clothing pattern in #EastEnders? Stacey’s turn tonight. Significant for the Christmas storyline. Who was wearing red in the Christmas teaser scene?”, while another added: “New #TheSix theory: Stacey’s colour is red because hawthorn berries are red and the man who is most likely to be her victim is Theo Hawthorne #EastEnders.”
Later this week, Jean tries to discourage Stacey from attending Theo’s plea hearing but Stacey is certain she wants to be there. Martin and Jack support Stacey as she anxiously waits for Theo to give evidence. How will the evil villain plead? After the plea hearing, Jack comforts a drunken Stacey after she tearfully confesses her fears about Theo.
Jack takes Stacey back to No.27 to sober up where Sam, who is temporarily living there, tells Jack about her dislike of the Slaters. Once alone, Jack is shocked when Stacey admits that she planted the wrench on Theo to cover up Freddie’s actions and make it look like Theo tried to attack her. How will Jack react and will he report Stacey?
