BBC EastEnders fans issue same demand as character returns to Walford with bombshell news
EastEnders aired a huge return this evening - when one character, Alfie Moon, made their way back to Walford with some big news for his family
EastEnders fans have all made the same demand as Alfie Moon returned this evening – as he dropped a bombshell on ex Kat Slater.
The much-loved character – played by Shane Richie – made his return to Walford this evening. Alfie was diagnosed with prostate cancer and underwent surgery to hopefully remove the cancerous shells. He returned from Spain this evening and headed to the hospital with Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) to get his PSA results.
However, he was given the sad news that his prostatectomy didn’t remove all of his cancer and he needed additional treatment. Terrified for what it might mean for him, Alfie struggled with the news whilst Linda tried to support him.

When he arrived back at the Square, Kat was quick to criticise him for disappearing and fumed at him for abandoning their sons. However, he soon revealed to her that he has cancer and he will need extra treatment, leading her to reassure him.
However, fans are keen that Alfie and Linda remain just friends after praising her for being so supportive of him. One wrote: “I beg we keep Alfie and Linda like this the best supportive friends duo #EastEnders,” as a second added: “Alfie and linda have such a lovely friendship hope they just keep them that way and nothing more #EastEnders.” A third penned: “Linda supporting Alfie is the sweetest I adore their friendship #EastEnders,” and a fourth shared: “I love Alfie and Linda’s friendship #EastEnders.”
On being given the storyline and if it could mean a reunion for Alfie and Kat, Shane previously said: “Me and Jessie have known each other for 21 years and every time we do a scene together we keep getting notes from upstairs saying ‘don’t look at each other’. In case we give any clues away. They don’t want to see the relationship we used to have. So Jessie might brush past me and I’m going ‘stop Kat, you can’t touch me, don’t look at me like that!’ But who knows. Next year, something might happen, but we don’t know just yet.”

Shane had previously explained how he went for his own prostate cancer check after filming the storyline.
“Here’s the thing. This is absolutely true, I don’t think I’ve told many people this other than my wife – two days before that meeting I went for a health check for prostate cancer. Only because it was on my radar. I’m getting to that age now and I’m starting to get reminded by a couple of friends and a close friend of mine who I’ve known since I was 16 went through prostate cancer, thankfully he’s out the other side, and I remember thinking ‘he’s not much older than me,'” he said.
“I’ve got a young family, I thought right, I’ve got a couple of days off from EastEnders, I’m gonna go along for a check-up. Thankfully I was alright, but two days later I had the meeting about doing this story. The fact they gave that particular storyline to a character like Alfie Moon… people are familiar with Alfie after 21 years, maybe another character might not have had the same impact.”
