BBC EastEnders’ Jamie Borthwick announces shock exit from soap in now deleted Instagram post
EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick - who plays Jay Brown - posted a now deleted Instagram story where he appeared to confirm his exit as he bid farewell to his character on the BBC soap
EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick has seemingly announced his exit from the BBC soap.
Jamie has been at the forefront of some of the biggest storylines on the BBC soap recently, with the tragic death of his on-screen wife Lola Pearce Brown, but it looks like Jay will also be leaving Albert Square if Jamie’s Instagram story is anything to go by.
He took to Instagram earlier this evening in a now deleted post on his story where he shared a young photo of himself and paid tribute to his character. In the post, he wrote: “RIP Jay, gonna miss you lad. We had a laugh didn’t we.”
In scenes set to air in a few minutes, Jay will be involved in a harrowing incident after taking drugs and trying to flee to Margate. Jamie has now seemingly confirmed Jay will die in the shocking scenes, with Billy, Ben and Callum left terrified by a potential loss. Jay’s fate is currently unknown but it looks like he could meet his demise. Is this the end for Jay, or will he survive the horror crash?

Jamie previously revealed his co-star who plays Nadine worried about stepping on Danielle Harold’s toes. Speaking to the Mirror at the Pride of Britain Awards, Jamie said: “It’s my favourite one, that. It was just a reaction.
“I just thought, ‘Oh that’s a good one they wanna jump on, I like that’. That’s been a laugh. Jazzy who’s come in and played Nadine – do you know what the best thing about that is she was so aware of Danielle’s space. She was like, ‘Oh I really don’t want to be treading on anyone’s toes here and I’m really aware that you’ve worked together for so long and you’ve got your little routine I really don’t want to get in her space’. I just thought that was great from her and she was fantastic, she was blinding.”

Speaking about the scenes with Jazzy, who plays Nadine, he also added: “It was such a big thing with Danielle for her [Jazz] and for her to come in off the back of that, she was a bit like rabbit in the headlights kind of thing and I was like, ‘no, no, no you’re coming with me I’m looking after you and we’re doing it and she was great, she really was.”
