BBC EastEnders Max Bowden’s Mercedes ‘demolished’ as he’s caught in horror three-car smash
EastEnders actor Max Bowden - who plays Ben Mitchell on the BBC soap - was involved in a car crash on Friday, with images showing his vehicle badly damaged after the incident
EastEnders star Max Bowden was involved in a scary car crash on Friday, but luckily he walked away unscathed. The actor, who plays Ben Mitchell on the popular BBC soap, was in one of three cars that collided in Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey.
Pictures from the scene show Max’s Mercedes badly damaged, with the front bumper torn off and the bonnet crumpled. Despite this, Max was seen walking away from his car, casually dressed and using his phone.
A police spokesperson confirmed that no one was injured or arrested following the incident. The cause of the accident is still unclear, as is the number of people involved. The police said: “We were called to a collision involving three vehicles in Sunbury-on-Thames on Friday.”
The Sun has shared pictures of the incident, showing Max’s car severely damaged on a street in town. The actor appeared tense in the photos, his head down and engrossed in his mobile phone.
An eyewitness told The Sun: “We just saw this car was absolutely demolished and then my girlfriend said, ‘Is that Ben Mitchell?’. He looked pretty stunned by the whole thing.”
Max took over the role of Ben from Harry Reid, who played the character from 2014 to 2018. In September, Max won the Soap Superstar award at the Inside Soap Awards.
Overwhelmed by the honour, he thanked his fans on Instagram: “I am so totally grateful to everyone who voted for us at the Inside Soap Awards last night. And am so thankful for voting for me as ‘Soap Superstar’ !?! You lot are mental!”
