Eagle-eyed viewers may well recognise Sophie from The Sixth Commandment, a recent BBC crime drama based on the real-life gaslighting and deaths of Peter Farquhar and Ann Moore-Martin. Sophie played Gabrielle Ade in the min-series, which starred Timothy Spall and Anne Reid as Peter and Ann. The acclaimed drama, which left many viewers devastated, “follows the deaths of Peter Farquhar and Ann Moore-Martin in the village of Maids Moreton, Buckinghamshire, and the extraordinary events that unfolded in the following years.”

Sophie, who graduated from Warwick University with a degree in Theatre and Performance Studies before training at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, has also played Beth in James Corden’s Amazon Prime series Mammals, and Florence Pandhi in veterinary drama All Creatures Great and Small.

Speaking of her joy upon joining EastEnders, new soap star Sophie said: “I’m super excited to be joining the show, and I can’t wait to see what trouble Priya gets herself into! I watched EastEnders when I was growing up, so to see so many familiar faces and to walk onto the set is a dream come true.”

Meanwhile, executive producer Chris Clenshaw, stated: “We’re excited to introduce Priya and Avani, two women guaranteed to cause big drama in Albert Square. Little is known about Ravi and Priya’s doomed romance, but she’s a big missing piece in his past. The revelation that he’s got another child will floor Ravi, and he is set to face a big challenge in his life when he is forced to cope with such a big shock to the system. We’re delighted to welcome Sophie and Aaliyah to the EastEnders family.”
