BBC EastEnders star addresses return rumours amid ‘sinister’ Stacey Slater twist
A former EastEnders star has addressed whether they would return to the hit BBC One soap after fans predicted their character could be involved in a sinister Stacey Slater twist
Louisa Lytton has revealed whether she would ever return to EastEnders as her iconic character Ruby Allen.
The actress, 34, was last seen on the hit BBC One soap back in 2021 and her character Ruby is currently in prison after Stacey Slater’s mum Jean Slater set her up in revenge for her many lies. In real life, Louisa left Albert Square on maternity leave, where she welcomed her daughter Aura, now two, with husband Ben Bhanvra.
Louisa appeared on Tuesday’s episode of Loose Women to talk about starring in the touring version of 2:22 A Ghost Story, alongside fellow former EastEnders star Joe Absolom, who played Matthew Rose from 1997 to 2000. However, chat soon got onto EastEnders as host, Ruth Langsford, asked if there could be a return.
Louisa said of her character Ruby: “I’m in prison, she’s in prison!” host Ruth, 63, then added: “Would you [return], if they asked?” with Louisa admitting: “Yeah, yeah, yeah! Never say never, yeah, of course!”
It comes as fans speculated there could be a sinister storyline involving Louisa’s character Ruby. Soap watchers will recall that Theo Hawthorne has been making Stacey’s life hell. Only recently, Theo’s true motive was finally exposed as Stacey realised that Theo was her online client and had been the one stalking her.
Stacey had been subjected to many horrors at the hands of the at-the-time unknown man, who had sent her flowers to her home, and even broke into her house and snuck into her bedroom and ripped up all her cam clothes. Things only got worse when Theo moved in next door, where Freddie Slater attacked him earlier this month in a bid to protect Stacey.
Some viewers had speculated that Theo could be working alongside Ruby, who is currently in prison. They shared an interesting theory that suggested Ruby could be working with Theo from the inside to get “revenge” on Stacey.
One viewer wrote: “Do you agree with my theory that Ruby & Theo could be working together? Surely Theo can’t be that clever when it comes to Stacey’s backstory. The only person I can see working with Theo to get revenge on Stacey and the Slaters is Ruby,” whilst a second added: “He named all Stacey’s ex’s how does he know that when he’s only been in her life just a few months. This would be a good twist but I can’t see how ruby could form a decent friendship out of Theo? #EastEnders.”
