BBC Strictly Come Dancing’s Dianne Buswell hits back at judges as they ‘don’t get credit they deserve’
Dianne and Bobby were on the receiving end of some pretty sharp comments from the judges - and the Strictly professional seems to have hit back over the harsh criticism
Dianne Buswell has appeared to hit out at the Strictly Come Dancing judges after they gave her and dance partner Bobby Brazier middling feedback for their latest performance.
On Saturday night, 34-year-old Aussie pro dancer Dianne took to the floor once again with 20-year-old EastEnders actor Bobby to perform an energetic Jive – to the sound of Sail by Awolnation. And while the judges gave some pretty reasonable scores for the lively dance, their feedback fell a little flat.
But it seems Dianne isn’t taking the cutting comments lying down, as she has hit out at the judges via social media and hints that she thinks they aren’t giving her or Bobby enough credit for their performances. Viewers saw Dianne and Bobby receive some relatively harsh comments from the panel.
Dance pro turned judge Anton Du Beke said he was shocked by “how rehearsed” their dance was branded it “a little bit sort of messy”. He went on to give some more positive commentary, describing the dance as “absolutely clean as a whistle” and a “great performance”.

Craig Revel Horwood was typically brutal with his feedback and he slammed the dance. He said: “I thought it was too aggressive and there wasn’t enough air or breathing in it. And I didn’t feel that you were leading, you were placing everything… It was just simply choreographed rather than being danced together.”
Motsi Mabuse also suggested the choreography was overthought, saying: “I felt from the very beginning you knew what you wanted to do, the intention was there… You were very strong, for me stronger than your usual position.”
And head judge Shirley Ballas said: “I thought you had attitude and great striking action when it came to the feet… It was much better than last week and you’re good under pressure.”
Viewers watching at home were outraged by the judges comments – while Dianne and Bobby scraped together 30 points which saw them lagging far behind other contestants Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola, Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin, Annabel Croft and Johannes Radebe, and Nigel Harman and Katya Jones.
One unimpressed fan took to Instagram to support the Aussie dancer and the EastEnders star, writing: “I’ll say it 1000x over but Bobby and Dianne aren’t getting the credit they deserve for the dances they’re bringing to Strictly each week…. From being a novice to then brining us dances of such a high standard, that is worth a lot more hype and praise.”
And it seemed Dianne agreed 1000x as she reported the supportive message to her own Instagram Stories for all her fans and followers to see. She also showered praise on her dance partner, sharing a clip of them on stage together along with the caption: “Proud of you Bobs”.
