EastEnders’ Barry star Shaun Williamson’s secret name exposed after passport revelation

EXCLUSIVE: X Factor legend Honey G revealed some surprising backstage secrets after she worked with the EastEnders star Shaun Williamson on their Christmas Deliveroo campaign

X Factor icon Honey G has revealed that Shaun Williamson that his EastEnders character’s name is printed on his passport.

The 42-year-old rapper, whose real name is Anna Gilford, partnered with the TV legend this week on a Christmas campaign with the delivery service app Deliveroo. The unlikely duo teamed up to form the ‘Not So Silent Choir’ where they went door to door around London singing terrible renditions of classic Christmas songs in order to encourage residents to donate the Trussell Trust charity.

It’s fair to say they achieved their goal as the pair butchered a series of beloved carols outside surprised residents. Following the launch of their new campaign, she exclusively sat down with Daily Star musician to discuss the hilarious backstage gossip while filming the advert.

What many fans may not know, is that the rapper is a huge fan of the BBC soap opera as she confessed how star-struck she was to meet the soap legend. She told us: “It’s amazing working with Shaun, he’s such a lovely, lovely guy.

“He’s just absolutely gorgeous and he’s so funny, he’s so down to earth. He really is a genuine person and I’ve loved working with him on this campaign and being part of the not so silent choir.”

But despite being one of his biggest fans, the brunette beauty couldn’t help but accidentally call him by his character’s name from the show, Barry Evans. She went on: “I’ve really enjoyed working with Shaun, no Barry, no Shaun!

“Some people call him Barry because of his character on EastEnders but he says he’s been called worse things. And he claims that Barry is actually on his passport because it’s his actual middle name.

When she was asked if the cheeky chappy is anything like his onscreen character, she confessed: “Oh absolutely. I mean, when he was doing the advert he literally reminded me of Barry from EastEnders because of how funny he was.

“I’m a massive EastEnders fan, I love EastEnders and I don’t miss a single episode. And I couldn’t help but watch back the clip when Janine [Butcher] pushes him off a cliff.

“I mean he is just incredibly, incredibly talented and it was an absolute joy to work with him.” Shaun first joined the star-studded cast back in 1994 as the loveable guy and fan-favourite Barry Evans.

Throughout his time on the show, his character was regularly unlucky in love. He married Natalie Price but it didn’t take long before his wife found herself in the arms of another man.

Arguably his biggest downfall was when he fell for blonde bombshell Janine Butcher in 2003. The beloved character famously fell to his death after his new wife Janine pushed him off a cliff when she decided to divorce him.

Shaun and Honey G were brought together on the Deliveroo campaign to help raise money to support a network of food banks and provide emergency food to people over the festive period.
