Thoughts On The Big Move From EastEnders
Himesh Patel has spoken up about his “unconventional” transition to Hollywood. Patel took on the role of Tamwar Masood in the long-running BBC soap from 2007 to 2016. However, he departed from the show to explore other opportunities in the acting realm. These include a breakthrough in Hollywood, featuring roles in Tenet, Don’t Look Up, and Good Grief.
The former EE icon is still flabbergasted by how his career trajectory has skyrocketed. Speaking to The Independent, he acknowledged having imposter syndrome about his big blow-up. The actor believes that people aren’t meant to go on that journey. And that it’s not meant to happen. Patel elaborated, “You’re not meant to do nine years on EastEnders and then get the lead role in a Danny Boyle movie.” The actor was referring to the musical flick Yesterday with a focus on the Beatles. In addition, Himesh expressed gratitude that he could exemplify the notion that actors can do both. He hopes not to be the last young actor to establish themselves on a soap.
Latest Acting Venture – Good Grief
Himesh’s latest undertaking involves portraying one of the main character’s friends in Daniel Levy’s Good Grief. It is a comedy about a chosen family navigating life after a loss. The movie is now available to stream on Netflix and has received a three-star rating in Digital Spy’s review.
It says, “Good Grief remains an affecting showcase of Levy’s considerable talents, both in front and behind the camera,” Additionally, the review states that Levy pitches Marc perfectly in his character writing. But he also creates space for the supporting cast to shine. It remarked that the flick was not perfect but that, as a debut feature, “it promises great things in Daniel Levy’s future filmmaking career.”
