EastEnders viewers got quite the shock last night as Dean Wicks made a dramatic return to Albert Square, seven years on from his departure.
The chilling character, played by Matt Di Angelo, was written out of the BBC One soap in 2016 after a decade on the award-winning show. His final storyline saw him becoming obsessed with Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) and being arrested after raping her twice, only to be acquitted of the charges by a jury trial off screen. Dean returned to EastEnders on Monday’s episode as Cindy Beale’s new business partner, leaving an astonished Ian Beale to inform his wife of the hairdresser’s criminal history. Linda is also made aware of her perpetrator’s return, after he sneaks into the Queen Vic kitchen and confronts her in a horrifying reunion.
It remains unknown how exactly Dean’s storyline on EastEnders will play out, but it’s been widely speculated he will be involved in the drama’s highly-anticipated Christmas murder mystery scandal.
Matt Di Angelo’s real life outside of EastEnders is worlds away from Albert Square, with the 36-year-old residing in a modern home in North London with wife Sophia Perry and their two twin babies, Raphie and Daphie.
The VIP couple welcomed twins in August 2022, a little less than a year after tying the knot in Grosvenor Chapel, London before heading to the five star Dorchester Hotel for a lavish reception. The new parents also reside in the UK capital, where they likely have relatives living nearby. Matt hails from the suburb of Enfield and attended a performing arts school in Marble Arch, while Sophia’s family has been running their own wedding planning company in London for three generations.
While it remains unknown where exactly in North London the creative couple live, it’s hard to deny the luxurious nature of their property. In their gender reveal video posted back in April 2022, Matt and Sophia’s gorgeous garden with lush trees, an outdoor heater and patio furniture can be seen in full view. Meanwhile, their kitchen consists of black cabinets and white walls for a monochromic finish.
A clip of the soap star assembling high chairs for their twins also gives fans a glimpse into the couple’s spacious living area, which includes light wooden floors, a wicker mat, a cheese plant and soft grey cabinets. The cool aesthetic to perfect setting for hosting bashes, which, by the looks of Matt’s Instagram, is taken very seriously by his party-planning wife.
