EastEnders fans fume over ‘forgotten’ storyline as character on brink of homelessness makes miraculous comeback

EASTENDERS fans have fumed over a ‘forgotten’ storyline after a character on the brink of homelessness makes a miraculous comeback.
The BBC soap regularly sees its characters suffer financial hardship, and last year it was the turn of Stacey Slater.
Despite having a house full of fellow working adults, Stacey was struggling to make ends meet and turned to an ‘OnlyFans’ style website called Secret Cam to earn some extra cash.
Stacey – played by Lacey Turner – sold adult pictures of herself to supplement her income from her food van, Stacey’s Baps.
But her side hustle soon lead to unexpected stress and suffering thanks to Theo Hawthorne, who became obsessed with her and launched a terrifying stalking campaign.
The ordeal prompted Stacey to give up her Secret Cam work, and focus on her family, including baby granddaughter Charli.
However, EastEnders viewers have noticed that despite now having an extra mouth to feed, and nothing else seemingly changing in her financial situation, Stacey is no longer worried about her finances.
Taking to a fan forum to discuss the topic of soap pet peeves, one fan wrote: “Stacey having to resort to cam work to pay the bills and then being perfectly fine and not shown to struggle financially after giving it up.”
Another replied: “My big one is the Stacey one you just mentioned!”
The storyline always baffled EastEnders viewers anyway, considering so many people live in the house with Stacey and her kids.
As well as mum Jean and her boyfriend Harvey, there’s Eve and at one point last year, Alfie, all of whom have jobs.
One wrote online: “How in the f*** are the Slater’s still struggling with money with all of Stacey, Eve, Jean and Harvey living there?”
Another added at the time: “It’s still wrong Stacey. With all the wages in that household what are they doing with the money anyway.”
A third commented: “why does it seam stacey is the only one in the house worried about the money there 5! adults hello it’s not all on stacey lbh.”
