EastEnders fans livid as Jay Brown hits rock bottom – and ‘hypocrite’ Ben Mitchell rips into him

EASTENDERS fans have been left livid after Jay Brown hit rock bottom – and ‘hypocrite’ Ben Mitchell ripped into him.
Jay has been struggling following the death of his wife Lola Pearce earlier this year, and in recent weeks he has turned to drugs to numb his grief.
He has also sought solace in the arms of sex worker Nadine, who bears a striking resemblance to Lola.
Ben recently discovered what Jay had been up to and has launched a number of scathing attacks on him in recent episodes, but on Monday night, his daughter Lexi overheard.
The youngster was left in tears and Ben barred Jay from seeing her any more.
In tonight’s episode, Jay desperately tried to get his friend to change his mind and let him see Lexi, who he considers his daughter too.
But Ben was having none of it, saying: “No, not now, not ever. There’s no chance. I don’t want you near anywhere near my little girl, you’ve caused enough damage. Go away.”
While Jay did later get the opportunity to make amends with Lexi thanks to Gina, Honey and Callum, Ben still looked furious about the situation.
And when Lexi suggested they scatter Lola’s ashes in the Square the next day, Jay later admitted to Gina he couldn’t face it, before reaching for the packet of drugs she had taken off him once she had gone to bed.
As Jay continued to struggle, EastEnders fans took to social media to state that, while Jay’s behaviour is unacceptable, Ben is in no position to take the moral high ground considering his own chaotic history.
One wrote: “There’s no condoning of Jay’s actions, but Ben is in no position to sit there and act like a perfect parent.
“I’ve lost count of how many times he’s let Lexi down or put his family at risk, so maybe Ben’s finally realising what Lola had to put up with when it was him.”
Another added: “Hypocrites Mitchell way or no way. Billy, Ben and Callum back each other but turn their back on Jay even though Jay has been there from them no matter what.”
A third tweeted: “The way these lot are treating Jay after losing his wife is sooo f***ed up because they forgive Ben for literal murder every time.”
Meanwhile a fourth shared: “Don’t forget that while Ben was on drugs he was sleeping with other men while still married to Callum. This isn’t just about Lexi. For as many times as Ben has wrecked havoc on his family’s lives Jay always gave him support. Ben & Callum are awful.”
A fellow viewer agreed, writing: “A summary of Ben Vs Jay doing a dodgy thing in #EastEnders history! Ben- He needs help, he is redeemable,he doesn’t deserve the criticism. JAY- KICK HIM OUT FOR GOOD, STAY AWAY FOREVER, YOU DESERVE NOTHING!”
