EastEnders has been running for so long now that viewers have made the soap a huge part of their lives. In the grand theatre of soaps, our favourite characters are like revolving doors. They remind us that all good things must come to an end. As the show goes on, we get introduced to new faces all the time. EastEnders enthusiasts always have a hard time bidding adieu to their favourite onscreen people. But they have to hold up as more old characters are set to leave the soap in the coming months. Read on as we tell you about the likely departure of characters.
EastEnders: Departures and Arrivals Unveiled!
Earlier, we have seen Mitch Baker and Karen Taylor leaving for Spain. Then Linda sent Keanu to the abyss, and Rocky confided in a police cell. But still, we have more goodbyes to say. Last year, Shona McGarty (Whitney Dean) announced her departure from the soap after 16 years. Her character has taken centre stage in some hard-hitting plotlines.
These include child abuse, stalking, and, more recently, the tragic demise of baby Peach. Whitney has also found out about her surprising pregnancy. However, she and her partner, Zack, are not on the same page. Will the difference in opinions prompt Whitney to break up with Zack and leave for good?
Elsewhere, Max Bowden (Ben Mitchell) is also leaving Albert Square, but the details are still in the shadows. Ben has had a challenging year following the death of his wifey, Lola Pearce. The phase has seen him battling with bulimia and confronting the news of rapist Lewis’ arrest. EE spokesperson confirmed Max’s exit, saying, “Max will be leaving EastEnders next year. We wish him all the best for the future.”
Meanwhile, the Mitchells are also not aloof from the wave of farewells. The tragic news of Aunt Sal’s death will reach the Mitchell family in the coming weeks. She was last seen on TV in 2017 when she attended the funeral of Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell. She had been making frequent visits to Albert Square since 1996.
Conversely, Walford has recently welcomed two new characters, Eddie and Gloria. The couple is the parents of George Knight. They are both here for a temporary stay. However, the couple can potentially create more drama with the secrets they’re hiding from George. So, we can anticipate their ongoing appearance in the storyline, which has been addressing the issue of child farming.
Fans have predicted an exit for Callum Highway (Tony Clay) alongside Ben, considering their stable marriage. It’d be interesting to see whether the couple will have their happily ever after as they leave. Oops! There are no more confirmed exits from the soap at this point, but some characters may bid farewell in the coming months.
Across town, The Six – Linda Carter, Denise Fox, Stacey Slater, Suki Panesar, Sharon Watts, and Kathy Beale are all skating on thin ice after their criminal rampage. After chaotically hiding Keanu’s body in the charred remains of the cafe, all the ladies have been pushing their luck. We have also seen Nish under medical care after Denise hit him over the head with a bottle on Christmas Day. He is still in a coma, so we’re not seeing him exit from the Square anytime soon.
Will The Six get a second chance, or will Nish live to tell the tale? Will they be able to cover their tracks? Hefty prison sentences await if they get caught. Brace yourself for more nail-biting drama.
