EastEnders in epic U-turn as Linda Carter issues chilling death threat weeks before Christmas murder
One fan tweeted: "YES LINDA RECLAIM YOUR POWER!"
EASTENDERS had an epic U-turn tonight as Linda Carter issued a chilling death threat weeks before the Christmas murder.
Some fans of the BBC soap threatened to boycott it on Wednesday after Linda was blackmailed by her rapist, Dean Wicks.
She told him that she was doing it for her family, and agreed to tell him that he didn’t rape her.
But Dean tricked her – and recorded her as she said: “I wanted you. Is that what you wanted me to say?
“We had sex. And I lied. I came onto you. I wanted to sleep with you so I did. And afterwards I was scared about what Mick was going to say so I said you raped me. I lied.”
Some were left floored by the airing of the ‘offensive’ scenes, writing on social media: “Well done, EE, for spitting in the face of us victims, I hope it makes you proud. Am sorry but think EastEnders done this so wrong.
“That should never have happened. Made me so uncomfortable.”
Another penned: “Absolutely disgusted in this show for that.”
But tonight, recovering alcoholic Linda was encouraged to take the power back in the situation by her family after she almost caved in and drank some winedue to the stress of it all.
Heading to Beale’s Eels, Linda and Dean headed out the back and she told him: “I’ll never forgive you for what you did to me, but I am going to let it go.
“You can believe what you want Dean, I don’t care anymore.”
She added with a sneer: “You know I actually feel sorry for you, because you don’t mean anything to anybody.
“Nobody wants you here, nobody cares about you, loves you…you could disappear tomorrow and no-one would even notice.”
After what appeared to be a potential clue as to Dean’s future fate with the Christmas murder just weeks away, Linda continued: “Now I’m going home to my family who do love me, and this hold that you’ve had over us? It’s gone for good.”
As Dean replied: “Are you sure about that Linda? Are you really sure?” she told him firmly: “You can’t hurt me anymore.”
EastEnders viewers were thrilled to see Linda being so strong, with one writing: “Linda is written so well tonight after the awfulness of yesterday’s writing.
“This is her strong character coming back through. This whole scene could’ve taken the place of yesterday and it would’ve actually made sense.”
Another added: “I’m sooo happy they wrapped the stuff up. Yes Linda tell him about himself.”
A third tweeted: “YES LINDA RECLAIM YOUR POWER!”
EastEnders airs on BBC One and is available on BBC iPlayer.
