EastEnders: Is Joe Swash Returning To The Square? The Star Spills The Tea!
“I owe them a lot,” Joe Swash expresses his deep felt gratitude to EastEnders and the entire team of the BBC One soap. The star truly believes that he owes his success to his stint on the London based drama. “I wouldn’t be here” without it he asserts. TV Season & Spoilers recently reported that this former Walford resident will be slipping into the hosts seat for a Christmas special EastEnders show. Which will soon air on BBC Three on December 11, 2023.
A large part of EastEnders 2023 was dedicated to building up the mega Christmas Murder story that’s due in less than a month. The soap dropped a thrilling FlashForward sequence of it earlier this year. Ever since then speculations have been rife about which male character could die this Christmas. Also, which of The Six female leads will surface as the murderer. Joe Swash will host the special episode that will focus on the stories of The Six. Which include -Denise, Stacey, Sharon, Suki, Kathy and Linda.
For the unversed, Joe portrayed Mickey Miller on EastEnders from 2003 to 2008. Later, he made a brief reappearance in 2011, when he arrived in town to attend his brother’s wedding. Now, one whole decade and two years later, Joe is finally returning to Albert Square. Even if it is just to host a one episode special, it is still exhilarating. However, many fans are now wondering if this mini return could act catalyst for a more permanent return for this fan favourite star.
Joe recently spoke to The Mirror about his return and quipped that nothing has changed on EastEnders. “The dressing room, the makeup room, costume room. It’s exactly the same, the same carpet, same doors,” he reminisced. Asserting that he still has a relationship with the show, Joe agreed that he gets nostalgic about returning to it. The actor was 21 years old when he first appeared on the BBC One soap. He admits that a lot has changed. However, if given a chance he admitted that he would go back, as it is a part of him.
Speaking further about slipping into Mickey’s character on EastEnders, Joe assured that nothing is in works as of now. But if the makers offered him something, he would grab it. “They bring people back from the dead, so if they really wanted me, they know where I am,” he signed off. 2023 really has been all about comebacks. We have so many lost characters finding their way back to the square. There is surely place for one more return!
