Lola Pearce’s death on EastEnders, earlier this year, left all of Walford devastated. But Jay Brown’s grief remains unparalleled even to date, as he struggles to cope with the crippling loss of the love of his life. All through Lola’s diagnosis to her last breath, he stood by her like a rock. Moreover, he promised Lola on her death bed, that no matter what, he will always be present for Lexi. Unfortunately, the way he is spiraling downwards in his grief, he is all set to lose Lexi. Livid and distraught at his behaviour, Ben has decided to cut Jay out of Lexi’s life, and he can’t stand it. Currently, on EastEnders, Jay is leaning heavily on drugs, as well as, sex-worker Nadine as a coping mechanism for his grief. Unfortunately, when Callum and Ben find out about it, they warn him to call it off and fall in line or stand to lose Lexi forever. Aghast, Jay leans on Billy for support, hoping that he would understand, owing to his own difficult and dramatic past. Initially, Billy does extend his support. However, he snatches away any sympathy for him when Ben fills Billy in on the whole Nadine and drugs situation.
Once again, feeling shunned, Jay starts to spiral out of control on EastEnders. He knows losing Lexi is not an option for him. But he does not understand how to get his act together, or how to deal with anything at all. Feeling overwhelmed, he decides to leave Walford and head to Margate. A place he holds special because of some heartening moments he spent there with Lola previously. He asks Gina to join him and she agrees. However, when it’s time to go she does not show up.
Feeling pushed to the edge, Jay decides to leave alone. Distraught by the thought of losing Lexi, and under the influence, Jay drives himself straight into a horrifying crash. The spoilers reveal that Jay’s life continues to hang in the balance, as Ben and Callum wonder how to deal with the situation. Will Jay survive this accident?
