Eastenders’ Linda Carter’s chilling Halloween storyline revealed by BBC soap boss
EastEnders' Linda Carter is set to be embroiled in a chilling Halloween storyline amid speculation of the return of Dean Wicks, who raped her in horrifying 2014 scenes
EastEnders’ Linda Carter is set to become embroiled in her most harrowing Halloween storyline to date, according to BBC soap boss Chris Clenshaw.
When Linda was married to Mick, Halloween was a special time for them and viewers will recall her excitement over decorating the Queen Vic pub – making it a venue to remember. But this year, with her estranged husband on the missing list, Linda now runs the pub with her mum and the new Knight family – and her celebrations for the annual holiday are set to take a turn for the worse.
Linda’s Halloween storyline is also likely to be her avenue into the ongoing The Six storyline that has kept viewers anticipating which of Albert Square’s six women are responsible for the Christmas Day death.
EastEnders have been generating a lot of hype concerning the Christmas Day death and have teased that the potential culprit could be either Sharon Watts, Linda Carter, Stacey Slater, Denise Fox or Kathy Beale – as they all starred in the dramatic flash forward episode in February this year.
Speaking of Linda’s upcoming storyline, Chris told Inside Soap magazine: “Poor Linda’s struggling this Halloween as it’s the first one without Mick. Obviously she wasn’t with Mick this time last year, but Halloween was very much their thing, and something they did together in the Vic. So, she’s trying her best to make a go of things, but she gets one hell of a surprise that she doesn’t bargain for…”
Speculation has reached boiling point over her brother-in-law, Dean Wick’s return, after he horrifically raped her in 2014, which resulted in a huge fight between Mick and Deano before Deano was shunned from Albert Square.
And fans have also been wondering if it’s going to be Dean who will end up as the body on the floor in the Vic.
Fans will remember Shirley took a break from Walford earlier this year after her son Mick went missing following a huge battle between Linda and Janine, which saw the trio end up at Dover. With Mick now lost at sea, Shirley couldn’t bare staying in Walford. But, Linda was left upset after she saw Deano in the background of one of Shirley’s selfies – hinting she had reunited with her son after Mick’s death and could return to the Square when Shirley comes back.
Kellie Bright, who plays Linda, told Radio Times of the Dean rumours: “I’d be totally up for him coming back as it creates drama and story. Linda has processed the rape and managed to get on with her life pretty well, [though] it has come out in other ways like her alcoholism. But she’s okay because Dean’s not there. If he suddenly walked through the door, it would be very confronting. I wonder what that would do to her.”
Teasers of the upcoming Christmas death see all six women standing over the dead body, leaving fans questioning who could have a serious motive to kill. So when The Mirror spoke to all six women at the National Television Awards this year, it looked as though Suki, played by Balvinder Sopal, had identified the killer or killers.
When all six women were asked their thoughts on the thrilling murder plot, Balvinder said: “I like that it’s all about women, which you don’t often get to see so that’s a powerful statement.” And this has now raised speculation that all six women could be responsible for the death of the unknown man.
