EastEnders Penny’s shock romance with resident ‘sealed’ — and Lauren will be fuming
EXCLUSIVE: Penny Branning has caused plenty of drama since returning to EastEnders and the character could be set to strike up a romance with a Walford resident
EastEnders’ Penny Branning could be stirring things up even more as AI has claimed she’s set to start a romance with Peter Beale.
Played by Kitty Castledine, the daughter of Jack Branning returned to the BBC soap at the New Year along with on-screen cousin Lauren Branning. The pair were living in France but decided to swap Paris for Walford – and things soon took a dramatic turn.
After landing in the UK, Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) was arrested for having drugs in her luggage. Unbeknownst to her, it was Penny who had planted the drugs after getting involved with a drug dealer Juliette abroad.
Penny eventually told the truth, and agreed to cooperate with the police about Juliette. This meant Lauren was able to leave prison and she then reunited with her family in Walford.
At first, she was fuming at Penny’s betrayal when she came clean – but the duo later patched things up. Lauren even agreed to move in with Penny – and the two then set out to find a flat to move into at the Square.
However, when Lauren’s baby daddy and ex Peter Beale (Thomas Law) heard about them moving in together he was not keen. He refused to let his son Louie live with a “drug dealer.”
In a bid to win him over, during Thursday’s episode (January 11) Penny headed to the Beale’s. Armed with booze, she got him drunk and eventually he agreed to let Lauren and his son live with Penny.
Now, AI has claimed that Penny and Peter could be striking up a relationship. And it’ll do doubt cause a frenzy with Penny cousin and Peter’s baby mama Lauren.
Daily Star has quizzed one of the world’s most popular artificially intelligent “creative” tools Bard AI to see if Peter and Penny could start a romance. The program responded: “There are some hints and speculations based on recent developments and the characters’ history.”

According to AI the pair have an “Underlying chemistry.” It explained: “There seems to be an undeniable tension and chemistry between Penny and Peter, even though their interactions haven’t been purely romantic so far. This tension could potentially develop into something more.”
The system also noted how Penny and Peter have a ”Shared history and connection.” The system said: “Both have a connection through Lauren, both being her family members. This shared experience and understanding could be a foundation for a stronger bond.”
However, if the two end up getting together, AI reckons Lauren won’t be too happy – especially as they both lied to her recently. The program said: “If Penny and Peter announce a relationship while Lauren is still processing these betrayals, her initial reaction could be one of shock, anger, and even betrayal.”
