EastEnders spoilers: Christmas heartbreak for Ian Beale as things heat up for Cindy
It was always going to be inevitable, and EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw has confirmed that Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) should be worried about Cindy’s (Michelle Collins) loyalty.
This Christmas, the sizzling tension between Cindy and her ex will reach fever point, leading to some serious temptation and potentially more.
And her closeness to George Knight (Colin Salmon) will lead to heartache and anger as Ian and Elaine’s (Harriet Thorpe) festive seasons head for ruin.
Cindy has a track record for cheating on Ian and, despite spending months insisting that he is the man for her, it’s evident that her old ways are never far away.
Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk, boss Chris warned: ‘Ian should be worried. Is he worried? Probably not!
‘We know that he was quite fearful of returning to Walford knowing that Cindy’s ex-husband George ran the Queen Vic, and he obviously found that out before she knew
Happy families? Nah! (Picture: BBC)
‘I think he’s very confident with his relationship with Cindy, but I don’t think he should be confident. I think we all know who Cindy is, and I think she could give into temptation at any moment.’
It’s all going to come to a head as family dynamics play havoc, as do the fiery and still very much existent feelings between Cindy and George.
‘There’s definitely huge chemistry at Christmas between her and George,’ Chris revealed.
‘We have the Beales and the Knights come together at Christmas to have Cindy’s first Christmas in ten years with her daughters and Peter, but what becomes quite apparent is her and George’s connection when they actually start to reminisce about Christmases of the past, of them together in Marbella – which is not what anyone, especially Ian or Elaine, want to hear on Christmas Day!’
Widely praised for his current work on the show, Chris added to us that he is ‘thrilled’ to the response from fans over the decision to bring back Cindy.
Less thrilled will be Elaine, who already has a caustic relationship with her love rival.
It’s only a matter of time before Cindy and George recognise the sparks still alive between them.
But how far will they go this Christmas?
