Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) is hiding a huge secret in EastEnders, but Karen Taylor (Lorraine Stanley) may be set to rumble it ahead of her exit.
Since learning that Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) was Albie’s biological father and not Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters), Sharon has been in turmoil, and recently organised to meet with her solicitor in order to discuss the situation.
However, just as she asked what rights Phil would have over Albie if his name is not on the birth certificate and they’re not married, Karen walked in with Albie.
Having not heard who Sharon was talking about, Karen automatically assumed that Keanu was the topic of conversation, and jumped to the conclusion that Sharon was planning to leave him.
Though Sharon insisted that Karen had got her wires crossed, things only got worse when Phil later told her that Sharon planned on selling her half of the Boxing Den.
Of course, we viewers know that she wants to distance herself from Phil as much as possible, given that she is keeping the fact that he is Albie’s real dad a secret from him, but this isn’t what Phil believes.
Phil revealed to Karen that Sharon was selling up to fund Keanu’s ‘big dreams’, and warned her that there would be trouble if he only plans on marrying her for her money.
Later, Karen confronted Sharon about what Phil had said, and Sharon once again tried to assure her that she was acting with Keanu’s best interests in mind.
When Karen revealed that she had spoken to Keegan, who confirmed that Keanu knew nothing about it, Sharon explained that she had realised that it would be best for their marriage if she wasn’t still in business with her ex-husband, and planned to tell Keanu when he got home.
She also pointed out that she wanted to put the extra cash back into the Arches, as Keanu had big plans for expansion.
When Karen countered by asking what she had been talking to her solicitor about, Sharon lied and said that they were talking about putting Keanu’s name on Albie’s birth certificate, and had planned to surprise Keanu.
As Sharon insisted that she loved Keanu and wanted them to be a proper family, Karen seemed mollified, and left Sharon alone.
With Karen set to leave Albert Square in the near future, we have been left wondering what may drive her away. Could she get to the bottom of what Sharon is really hiding?
