Kat Slater’s (Jessie Wallace) life was turned upside down in EastEnders when Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf) announced that Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) had slept with Emma Harding (Patsy Kensit).
Poor Kat was left totally devastated by his betrayal, and quickly realised that she wouldn’t be able to forgive him.
Despite Phil’s pleas for forgiveness, Kat explained to her kids that she and Phil were splitting up, before instructing them to pack their bags and heading over to the Slater’s.
However, it soon became clear that the house was already far too crowded, and Kat would need to find somewhere else to stay.
Fortunately for her, Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) was willing to rent her a flat free of charge, until she could release her own money from Phil’s assets.
Her plan to distance herself from Phil as much as possible ends up hitting a stumbling block in upcoming episodes when Kat head’s back to No.55 to retrieve one of Bert’s lost toys, and makes a shocking discovery.
Kat is left stunned when she discovers that son Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall) has gone to live with Phil.
With Kat determined to move on and put the past behind her, could Tommy end up jeopardising this?
Having both suffered recent breakups, Nish and Kat’s relationship very quickly descended to much more than just landlord and tenant, following an eventful date.
Despite Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) and Suki Panesar’s (Balvinder Sopal) warnings, Kat continues to see Nish, and is left stunned when he gifts her a new coat in upcoming scenes.
She reluctantly accepts the gift, though she is unimpressed as it is not to her taste at all.
When the pair later row she deliberately leaves without it, though Nish chases her down and asks her to put it on.
As Nish grows more controlling, will Kat heed Stacey and Suki’s advice?
