Poor Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) isn’t having the best time of it at the moment, as her money troubles are causing havoc in EastEnders.

The businesswoman has been left in a difficult position after the electrics in her beloved café began to fail, with the fuse box tripping every time they tried to turn on an appliance – which, in a café, is kind of integral.

Unfortunately, Kathy can’t afford to get a professional in, after Rocky Cotton’s (Brian Conley) ex-wife Jo (Vicki Michelle) extorted £50,000 out of them earlier in the year.

Jo paid Rocky a visit moments before he was due to say his vows to Kathy to inform him that their divorce hadn’t gone through.

Despite this, Rocky went through with his wedding, leaving Jo to reveal that he had committed bigamy.

In order to keep Jo quiet, Kathy emptied out her life savings and took out a loan, leaving her with absolutely nothing.

Since then, she has been working hard to try and pay off their debts, but Rocky’s gambling habit hasn’t made things any easier, and he is now in even bigger debt with Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry).

In tonight’s (November 6) episode, the electrics in the café gave Kathy a shock not once but twice, leaving Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) concerned.

She warned Kathy that with Bernie Taylor (Clair Norris) working in the café, it was only a matter of time before she got a shock, which no doubt would lead the Taylors to sue, given that they have form for insurance scams.

Though Rocky was about to tell Kathy everything about his debt to Nish, Sonia’s words sparked an idea.

Soon, it had become clear that Rocky was planning a little insurance scam of his own…

Will Kathy ever find out what Rocky has been up to, and is he set to put more than just her bank account in jeopardy?
