EastEnders spoilers: Sam Mitchell makes a shocking discovery about Kat Slater that could destroy everything

Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf) is about to find out exactly what Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) has been keeping to herself in EastEnders – and it’s dynamite.

Kat’s been on tenterhooks all over Christmas after finding out that hubby Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) is the real dad of Sharon Watts’ (Letitia Dean) tot, Albie.

Sharon made the shocking discovery about Albie’s paternity after he was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition.

That meant Sharon’s ex, Phil, had to be the daddy, as Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) – who she was having an affair with at the time – doesn’t carry the gene.

Kat was in the loos at the Queen Vic when she overheard Albie’s mum Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) talking to a drunk Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) about it.

Initially, Kat planned to tell Phil everything, but in an epic clash of the fiery matriarchs, Sharon warned her off.

Sharon told Kat that Phil would likely dump her if he knew, as in all their years together, having a baby was the one thing they’d never done, so he’d want a life with her and Albie.

But despite Sharon’s best efforts to keep shtum, however, the truth came out in explosive fashion on Christmas Day when the bride-to-be told Keanu that he wasn’t Albie’s dad, with Phil overhearing.

Phil has struggled to process the news, with Sharon’s affair with Keanu still hurting four years on. But the hard-man will be left thinking about family after he receives word of Aunt Sal’s death, which hits him particularly hard.

As a result, he contemplates getting to know Albie and therefore approaches Sharon, hoping to discuss the prospect of access to his son. Zack Hudson (James Farrar), however, stops him in his tracks.

Sam later wades in, telling Zack that the Mitchells will drag them through the courts unless they are given access to the tot.
