EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders star Balvinder Sopal has opened up about her character Suki Panesar’s huge struggle over the Christmas period following the disappearance of Eve Unwin.

As viewers know, Suki’s husband Nish recently ordered his son Ravi Gulati to murder Eve after finding out about her affair with Suki.

Although Ravi was initially prepared to follow through with his father’s orders, he ended up threatening Eve instead, telling her to leave Walford and never return.

“We find her in a real conundrum because Eve has gone missing, and Suki doesn’t know where or why or how,” Balvinder shared.

“Over the course of the week she kind of starts to piece things together and it feels like things are leading all the way back to Ravi and Nish.

“She knows that they could potentially have a very good hand in Eve’s disappearance, because they’re villains,” she added.

The soap star went on to explain how Suki knows both Nish and Ravi are “dangerous people” given Ravi previously killed Ranveer, while Nish “killed the man he thought Suki was having an affair with”.

“There’s a real kind of danger around Eve going missing and the key players within that so Suki is just trying to find her feet with it all,” she added.

Balvinder was also asked which men find themselves on the wrong side of Suki by Christmas day, given she’s one of six Walford women who will either witness or somehow be involved in the murder of a mystery man.

“Well there’s the obvious two! Tish [Letitia Dean, who plays Sharon Watts] said something really interesting and true, she said every man is an obvious choice depending on who the woman in question is,” she shared.

“So for Suki, the obvious choice would be Ravi and Nish. I don’t know who else could have potentially crossed her, I mean she has had beef with Ian before.”

Recalling what she felt when she finally found out more about the death scene, Balvinder said: “Let’s just say I was very excited to get going, and I couldn’t wait to be able to break it all apart and find the inner workings of what was going to happen and then put it all together again and execute it.”

EastEnders airs on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
