EastEnders is set to put our TV screens as well as social media on fire with its hard hitting story line starring Theo, Stacey and Freddie. Jaws dropped when Theo broke into Stacey Slater’s house and tried to rape her. Fortunately for her, Freddie returned home right in time to stop Theo from going through with the vile act. Although the young lad managed to save Stacey, he dug himself in some deep mess because of what transpired between him and Theo.
The offender tried to push the blame on Stacey on EasEnders by claiming that she seduced him. But that just triggered Freddie and he grabbed a nearby iron and beat Theo to a pulp. Leaving him only short of death. However, now Freddie is facing an uncertain future with the law. All the high octane drama made for a very thrilling few episodes. And it successfully kept fans at the edge of their seats. However, once the initial storm around the attack and defense calmed down, the thrill factor dropped.
After the recent few episodes aired, fans were left wanting for more. They swiftly took to social media to let their displeasure be known. Almost unanimously echoing that EastEnders became downright “boring” this week. The BBC One soap this week shifted the spotlight from Stacey, Theo and Freddie to Jay Brown and his family. Perhaps fans were not ready to let go of the Stacey story just yet. Moreover, Jay’s drug story with Nadine has not managed to grab the same sort of attention as Stacey and Theo’s did.
“This is so Boring might just go to bed.” EastEnders fans complained on X (formerly twitter). The current storyline is telling the tale of Jay’s struggles of coping with Lola’s death. Recently, he befriended a sex-worker Nadine on the soap. And is leaning heavily on her for solace. Moreover, he even sourced some ketamine from her to help him feel better. Some fans still urged their fellow viewers to give the soap a chance. “Not all episodes can be explosive,” an ardent fan wrote. Perhaps suggesting that we do need breathers between the heavy and dark storylines.
But in the end of the day, viewers are the real stars for any soap. If they refuse to watch it, then no show can sustain for too long.
