EastEnders star Michelle Collins rules out Queen Vic twist for Cindy
It's a funny reason!
EastEnders star Michelle Collins has ruled out a move to the Queen Vic for Cindy Beale.
The star returned to the soap on a full-time basis in August after 25 years, with the character revealing that she was in witness protection in the interim.
Since her return to Walford, Cindy has opened up a pie and mash shop with Ian while also attempting to patch things up with ex-husband George Knight, but has made no attempt to get behind the bar at the iconic pub.
One viewer asked Collins on X (formerly Twitter) if Cindy would ever be tempted to, but the star ruled out such a move, saying: “Ha ha! Thank you but I m not good with props, I worked in the #oldvic @bbceastenders years ago I got sacked for breaking too many glasses!”
One fan pointed out that Collins had also worked behind another famous bar, referring to her stint as Stella Price in ITV soap Coronation Street, with the actor admitting that she had “forgot” her character worked at The Rovers.
Collins recently revealed she got into a spot of bother as she spent the festive season abroad in Spain, with the actor recalling that she was stuck in the country after she had lost her passport.
She then assured fans that she would be returning home after resolving the situation.
“Sorted online, paid 100 quid for emergency document, appt this morning at 9 am at British consul,” she explained. “Phew, little stressful to say the least but could’ve been lot worse, am safe, fit and healthy. Thanks to all the lovely people on here and friends who helped me xx.”
EastEnders airs on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
