EastEnders star teases deadly showdown between two Walford legends
AN Eastenders character is playing a game dangerous game with one of the soap's biggest villains.
EASTENDERS star Navin Chowdhry has shared details about his character Nish Panesar’s new storyline with Kat Slater, played by Jessie Wallace.
Recent scenes on Albert Square have seen the pair romp after splitting from their respective partners.
After leaving the hospital, Nish seemed to have a more positive outlook on life and became a ‘good Samaritan’ after offering Kat rent-free accommodation following her explosive split from Phil Mitchell, played by Steve McFadden.
Ignoring Stacey Slater’s warnings about Nish having an ulterior motive, Kat hesitantly takes the house offer.
This week, it seems as if Nish has been convinced by Priya to take Kat on a date after she discovered that he actually really liked her during their chat.
Speaking on whether Nish has a genuine interest in Kat, Navin said: “I think they are both hurting and, through the pain they’re experiencing, find a great comfort in each other.
“In situations like this, people grow close very quickly, and you have these two characters who, against all odds, find themselves in each other’s company, and that is healing for them at first.”
The EastEnders star then confirmed in an interview with Digitalspy: “He needs to find a way to put himself back on top.
“Nish is the very definition of a wounded animal, and he has to prove to himself and others who he is again.
“Nish is looking to reestablish his authority on everything and everybody around him and with that will bring more conflict.”
In Monday’s episode, Phil remained confident that he could win his wife back after being exposed for cheating on her with Lola’s Mum.
He approaches Kat in the pub and offers to buy her a drink but he declines and tells him: “You broke my heart, do you know how are it is to even look at you right now.”
Nish witnesses the exchange and comes in to save Kat by warning Phil to leave her alone.
Phil doesn’t take to Nish’s input kindly and, in return, issues a threat of his own, telling Nish not to mess with his wife.
Speaking about the altercation on the BBC soap, Navin explained: “I think Nish has proven he is not scared of Phil.
“I think, if anything he will be energised by that sort of conflict. But I think the viewers will know if there is someone Nish should be careful of, naturally, it would be Phil.
“But I think Nish will welcome the conflict with Phil. I don’t think he’s scared of Phil, but maybe he should be.”
In today’s scenes, after Nish and Kat go on a date, they are seen standing up and kissing passionately before they start to take each other’s clothes off.
