I was one of the original EastEnders stars in the 80s but I quit acting to be a mum

A FORMER EastEnders star who was one of the original characters in the 80s later quit acting to focus on being a mum.

Iconic BBC One soap EastEnders started in February 1985, with Tony Carpenter and his son Kelvin being present from the star.

Months later Tony’s ex-wife Hannah turned up in Walford before their daughter Cassie joined them.

Storylines for the family included Tony and Hannah agreeing to give their relationship another try after she discovered her boyfriend Neville Agard had beaten Cassie with a riding whip.

Cassie was played by Delanie Forbes and was last seen in Albert Square on Christmas Day 1986.

More than three decades on from her time in EastEnders it seems Delanie, 47, is focusing on being a single mum to her young son Quincy.

The duo spend their time travelling around in their motorhome and earlier this year appeared on Channel 5 reality show Million Pound Motorhomes.

She later said of the show: “When I was approached to take part in the show my first thought was as precious as my Motorhome (Penny) is she’s not worth a Million quid!

“It was truly life changing and empowering to embark on the journey I did last Summer with my then 6 year old son Quincy and I hope that I inspire other mums to just go for it!

“Life’s too short and the worlds too big to stay in one corner of it.”
