Jacqueline Jossa strikes groundbreaking deal with EastEnders which could make show’s stars richer than ever before
The Lauren Branning actress will come back to screens with a bang as she becomes tangled up with Cindy Beale
JACQUELINE Jossa’s big EastEnders comeback is going to have a major impact in more ways than one.
I can reveal the Lauren Branning actress has struck a deal with the BBC soap which means she is able to still rake in big money brand deals – a feat never-before-achieved by the show’s stars.
And by negotiating the change, Jacqueline is paving a way for her fellow actors to follow suit – which will see them laughing all the way to the bank.
A source said: “There were previously strict rules about members of the EastEnders cast being able to make money from other brands while they were working on the soap.
“It meant that ultimately they couldn’t cash in on the side and top up their pay packets. But now that could all be about to change.
“Jacqueline has had it agreed that she can keep her brand deals when she appears on screen in the New Year.
“She has a major six-figure contract with In The Style which is incredibly lucrative and she didn’t want to lose that.
“The move means she has blazed a trail for the other actors on the show to do the same. Naturally there are stipulations around what the actors will or won’t be able to plug, but thanks to Jacqueline it means they can start the conversation and see if they could make brand deals work like she has.”
Jacqueline announced in The Sun On Sunday that she was heading back to Walford as Lauren after a five-year break in September.
In an exclusive chat, Jacqueline said: “I’ve been watching and loving it like a fan.
“Walford holds a special place in my heart, so it really does feel like coming home.”
When Lauren is back on screen in January, she will come back with a bang as she becomes tangled up with back-from-the-dead Cindy Beale, played by Michelle Collins.
An EastEnders spokesperson said: “As with all talent, we are working with Jacqueline Jossa to ensure her pre-existing deals do not conflict with the show or BBC guidelines.”
