Kathy Beale makes huge decision in EastEnders after facing son Ian
TENSIONS have been keeping Ian and his mother Kathy Beale but can they ever look past their differences?
The beloved EastEnders legend played by Gillian Taylforth makes a huge decision after facing her son once again.
Short on money after settling a final score with Rocky’s former wife Jo, Kathy Beale has had to sell the family business which led to a huge disagreement with her son Ian (Adam Woodyatt).
As a result, when the businessman returned to Walford to catch up with wife Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins), Kathy had to move out of No.45 alongside her new husband Rocky (Brian Cotton).
The pair have found a place to stay with Sonia Fowler and Reiss Colwell at No.25 Albert Square but, next week on BBC One, Kathy struggles with their living arrangements.
She tells Rocky that it’s time they found their own place while he lies and insists he has not yet been paid by Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) who has gone through struggles of his own in recent scenes of the London-based drama.
Wanting to make money fast, Rocky hatches a plan to sell more cars in hopes the extra commission will secure his and Kathy’s future.
Later on, Rocky decides to invite Ian, Cindy and Peter over for lunch under the ruse that Kathy wants them all the bury the hatchet but Rocky’s secret agenda to win them round so they can move back into No.45 is soon rumbled, and the peace talks quickly ascend into chaos.
Kathy and Rocky go house-hunting and put an offer on a studio flat, but unbeknownst to Kathy, they don’t have the funds to pay for the deposit due to Rocky’s gambling.
In later scenes, Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) and Kathy have a heart-to-heart in the café where the latter reveals she misses Ian.
Sharon hatches a plan to invite Ian to the café for wine, as she acts as a mediator.
Thankfully, Sharon’s hard work pays off and it’s not long before Ian and Kathy resolve their issues as they share their love for one and other before drunkenly heading back to No.45.
Unfortunately, tensions arise again as Cindy and Kathy exchange some tense words.
How will Ian react?
EastEnders airs from Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
