EastEnders legend Natalie Cassidy has posted an emotional update about her daughter’s best friend, 7, who is now showing no evidence of disease after being diagnosed with stage 4 high risk neuroblastoma.

The actress, who plays Sonia Fowler in the show, recently shared a variety of images on her Instagram of herself and daughter Joanie along with her best friend Arianna.

In the post, Natalie says that Arianna’s life was ‘turned upside down’ two years ago.

‘I will never forget our WhatsApp group where as mum friends we’d chat about whatever- homework or what costume we had forgotten for the following day’, she wrote.

‘Then everything became a nightmare. To have dear @abichancesolieri and her family discover that Arianna had stage 4 high risk neuroblastoma was a very very hard time to say the least. But me and @rachael6960 have been there through it all. From crying and hugging, to laughing our heads off at times, through fundraising and peaceful evenings together.’

Sharing the incredible and positive update about Arianna, Natalie said: ‘And tonight we went for our Christmas dinner with our girls – to celebrate for the first time in 2 years. Arianna is NED- no evidence of disease. And they are flying to New York on Sunday for a month to start the vaccine process. Every Penny we have raised has been for this trip. Tonight we enjoyed our dinner, we laughed and we will miss each other.

‘What amazing news and what amazing support she has around her!’, another said.

Over in EastEnders, Sonia recently found herself being questioned by partner Reiss (Jonny Freeman) in the aftermath of the cafe fire.

As word got round that Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) had been arrested, Reiss was shocked to learn that Sonia was once imprisoned for murder as she sympathised with Kathy’s predicament.

Sonia was referring to the time she was arrested after Pauline Fowler’s (Wendy Richard) death in 2006.

It transpired that Pauline’s husband Joe was actually her killer, as he hit her across the head with a frying pan which caused a brain haemorrhage, which claimed her life.
