Nearly two years after Sister Wives star Janelle Brown made the decision to walk away from her plural marriage with Kody Brown, she’s making it clear that it’s time for her ex to pay up. On this week’s episode of the show, Janelle claimed that Kody has yet to pay her back for money she put into the family’s assets that she’s no longer a part of, and she’s even willing to take legal action if necessary to get it back.

That included the home that was purchased for Robyn when the family first moved to Flagstaff, Arizona, and began the process of paying off the land they’d bought at Coyote Pass to build homes on — land they only get to keep if they are able to pay it off by a certain date, thanks to the type of loan they took out.

On this week’s episode of Sister Wives, Janelle shared that all four wives contributed to the down payment for Robyn’s house, including Meri and Christine, who have since also left the family.

Janelle wanted to put her name on Robyn’s mortgage because she contributed to its purchase.

But as she explained on the show, Kody wouldn’t let her.

“He’s like, ‘No, no, we need to protect, you know, protect Robyn’s estate. She needs to have it so it’s hers and so it’s ours,’” Jenelle told her daughter, Maddie, in one scene.

Now Janelle wants her money back, but it doesn’t seem as if Kody — or his one remaining wife, Robyn — are making it easy on her.

Robyn claimed she didn’t owe Janelle anything.

While talking to the cameras in a confessional, Robyn stated that because the family had always worked together, their finances were so enmeshed that she didn’t believe she and Kody owed Janelle any money.

“When Janelle’s bringing up that Kody and I owe her something, it’s like, how do you, how do you calculate? How do you figure that out? It’s so confusing,” she said.

At this point, Janelle said Kody is no longer willing to talk financials with her.

And now that the loan for Coyote Pass is coming due soon, she’s wondering if she’s going to lose all the money she contributed to the future of a family she is no longer a part of.

“I think I’m going to have to lawyer up, I think, because I think that’s the only way I’m ever going to get any kind of decision out of him,” she said.

Kody and Robyn seem to be making some changes these days.

As E! pointed out, last month, Kody and Robyn listed their home in Flagstaff — the same one that Janelle, Meri, and Christine all contributed to purchasing — for $1.65 million. It’s not clear why they’re making the move or if they’re planning to split the proceeds with the members of the family who have since moved on.
