Tyler Perry’s Sistas | Fatima Refuses To Do Hard Time For Her Family, Friends Or Kids!

In a video I did before the Season 8 premiere dropped, I mentioned how they released a sneak peek of Zach and Fatima discussing who might have killed Gary. I said, “I don’t know.” In the initial trailer for Season 8, we saw a moment where Fatima is like, “Wait, you think I killed Gary?” And Zach responds, “Well, did you?”

This seems like a comedic moment, but I just don’t like the idea that Fatima would even believe Zach would do something like this. I mean, didn’t they go to the venue together?

As the scene unfolds in the sneak peek and the episode, we learn that even though it was off-screen, Zach and Fatima arrived at the wedding venue and then split up. So neither one of them knows what the other was up to after they separated. For all they know, Gary could have already been stabbed by the time they got there.

And what about the question: where were they? They obviously heard Andy screaming, but they didn’t arrive after the police and paramedics. If they had, they wouldn’t have even gotten out of their vehicles. I hope we see some flashbacks to what actually happened that night.

In this specific clip, Zach swears on his kids—born or unborn—that he didn’t do it. Fatima, somewhat unconvincingly, says, “Oh, I believe you.” But then when Zach asks, “So did you do it?” it’s like, come on, Fatima! You just asked him the same thing!

Fatima then goes on to say she wouldn’t do hard time for her family, her kids, or even Andy—who she claims to love like a sister. I’m sitting here thinking, “Is this really the Fatima we know?”

Keep in mind, she didn’t even mention Zach. She said her family, kids—which she doesn’t have yet—or Andy. I feel like she would go to jail for Zach, especially considering the way she took that baseball bat to Hayden’s car and got arrested.

It’s clever for her not to include Zach in that moment because he’s made it clear he’d do whatever it takes to protect her and their future kids. Look at how he handled Hayden! It was funny, but honestly, that was a stupid thing to do.

Then, of course, there’s the whole situation with Zach explaining that he “killed” his brother to protect Fatima. So, for Fatima to possibly exclude Zach from the list of people she’d do hard time for would just look bad.

Many fans are already giving the writers the side-eye, thinking, “Here we go again.” This feels like a sign that the writers just can’t get these characters right—the characters that everyone actually cares about.

So, how did you feel about that moment when Fatima said that to Zach? A lot of people seem unsure, and this season is off to a rocky start.
