Why Christine Brown Is Starting To Look like the Sister Wives Villain
As the newest season of Sister Wives finally got underway, Christine Brown hasn’t exactly been cast in the best light. The fan favorite had fans rejoicing when she announced she had left Kody Brown after 25 years of marriage. But Season 19 shows a side to Christine that isn’t becoming. The mother of six has boasted quite a bit on her social media. But now she even mocks Kody in her TLC confessionals, rubbing some viewers the wrong way.
Christine Brown is holding Kody Brown’s hands to the flames
Now, I am all about holding Kody accountable for being a bad husband. I am starting to feel like Christine is going a bit too far. Since her divorce, the Utah native has moved on and found love again. However, Christine and her new husband, David Woolley, seem to be making a living by posting digs that are aimed at Kody. One post showed the couple chowing down on nachos and laughing. The Sister Wives star wrote, “He likes the way I eat my nachos.” The Instagram post was a direct hit at Kody for once, stating in the family book, “I will be honest, I was not attracted to Christine in any kind of physical sense. The nachos grossed me out enough to make me go, ‘OK, I’m waiting to marry her.’”
The father of 18 noted that he couldn’t stand how she shoveled them into her mouth and let the grease drip. However, David posted a birthday shoutout saying, “Happy Birthday! I love eating nachos with you, My Queen!” David managed to win over an entire fandom with one single post. But the couple has since posted another nacho update, and now it seems like Christine just can’t let it go, and it feels petty.
Christine Brown might have been a problematic sister wife
Okay, this is an unpopular opinion, but I think Christine probably wasn’t the easiest sister-wife to get along with. As a viewer who has watched the series religiously for the last ten years, I can see how Kody became disillusioned with Christine because she did change. As the seasons went on, Christine became a poison to the family due to her constant negativity. Most of it was due to her extreme jealousy and seeing Kody favor his fourth and favorite wife, but she morphed into a green-eyed monster.
The season premiere showed Christine having to coexist with Kody at their daughter’s baby shower. Honestly, it was uncomfortable to watch. Clearly, the patriarch was uncomfortable, but Christine played on his discomfort. At the time, Kody shared, “I can’t fake this off. Seeing her, there’s so much animosity. It’s all something that embarrasses me because I think it’s all very childish.” But Christine went a step further, sharing, “I’m not going to necessarily say hi that would be disingenuous. That would mean I was going to be friends and friendly, and I’m not. I’m not going to be friendly.” The entire moment felt very icky.
Christine Brown’s actions as of late feel extra dramatic
Again, I was so Team Christine until this season. While I am by no means supporting Kody, I just can’t kick the feeling that Christine is playing up the drama for the Sister Wives cameras. The former wife of Kody had a way of coming across as phony with an annoying cheerleader attitude. In Season 18, she always tried to make a joke out of everything. Christine could gloss over things with a ‘let’s keep things moving’ personality. While that may have very well been her coping mechanism in a crappy family dynamic, she is now out and should be happier. Instead, I find she is channeling her inner Wednesday Adams as if she has her own little storm cloud following her around.
Christine is making it a point to note that she does not have a plural family but rather a sister-wife unit because she only gets along with Janelle Brown. During the premiere episode, Christine made it crystal clear that she would not be seeing Meri Brown again. Between filming, rumors started spreading that Christine’s children had a significant issue with Meri and their upbringing. Instead of addressing it in Season 19, Christine skirted around the subject but still made digs at Kody’s first wife.
Right now, Christine is being as dramatic as she can, and that is because she wants to keep viewers’ eyes off her and on Kody. But if she were to look into an enchanted mirror, I don’t think it would tell her she is the fairest of the Browns anymore.
